Esther 4

¹ When Mordecai hear all wey dem don do, he use pain tear him cloth. Then he con dress in sackcloth, cover him head with ashes, and waka through the city, he dey cry loud and bitter,

² Until he don reach the entrance of the palace. He no go inside because dem no dey allow anyone wey wear sackcloth for inside.

³ Throughout all the provinces, anywhere dem hear the announcement of the king, loud cry dey always dey among the Jews. Dem fast, cry and weep, and most of them dey wear sackcloth and dey lie down inside ashes.

⁴ When Esther young women and servant don tell her wetin Mordecai dey do, she dey disturbed. She con send some clothes to Mordechai make he wear instead of sackcloth, but he no accept them.

⁵ Then she call Hathach, one of the palace servant wey the king appoint as her servant, and she tell him make he go meet Mordechai and make he find out wetin dey happen and why.

⁶ Hathach go meet Mordechai for the city square for the entrance of the palace.

⁷ Mordechai tell him everything wey don happen to him and how much money Haman don promise to put into the royal treasury if dem kill all the Jews.

⁸ He give Hathach a copy of the announcement wey dem don issue for Susa, wey order the destruction of the Jews. Mordechai ask him make he take am to Esther, make he explain the situation to her, and make he tell her to go beg the king make he get mercy on her people.

⁹ Hathach do as he don talk,

¹⁰ And Esther give this message make he take back to Mordechai say:

¹¹ "If anyone, a man or woman, go the inner courtyard and see the king when he no call am, that person must die. Na the law be that; everyone know that, from the king advisers reach the people of the province. Na only one way dey to get through this law: if the king dey hold him gold staff to someone, then that person life go dey safe. But e don reach a month wey the king don send for me."

¹² When Mordechai receive the message of Esther,

¹³ He con send this warning to her say: "No think say you dey safe pass any other Jew just because you dey for the royal palace.

¹⁴ If you dey keep quiet for the time like this, help go come from heaven to the Jews, and dem go dey save, but you go die and your papa family go end. Yet who know " maybe na because of a time like this dem make you queen!"

¹⁵ Esther send Mordechai this reply say:

¹⁶ "Go gather all the Jews for Susa together; make una hold a fast and pray for me. Make una no chop or drink for three days and nights. My young women and I go dey do the same. After that, I go meet the king, even though say e dey against the law. If I must die to do that, I go die."

¹⁷ Mordechai con commot and do everything wey Esther don tell him say make he do.
