Deuteronomy 5
1 Moses call people of Israel together and say: Today, I dey tell una laws and teachings wey una must follow, so make una listen carefully.
2 The LORD our God make agreement with our nation for Mount Sinai.
3 That agreement no be only with our ancestors, but with us wey dey here today too.
4 God himself talk to una from fire,
5 but una dey fear the fire and una no gree go on top the mountain. So, I help una follow God talk, then I tell una say he talk say:
6 I be the LORD una God, the one wey bring una out of Egypt where una be slaves.
7 Make una no worship any god except me.
8 Make una no make idols wey look like anything for sky or on top earth or inside ocean under earth.
9 No bow down dey worship idols. I be the LORD una God, and I dey ask for all una love. If una reject me and worship idols, I go punish una family take reach third or fourth generations.
10 But if una love me and obey my laws, I go dey good to una family for thousands of generations.
11 No misuse my name. I be the LORD una God, and I go punish anyone wey misuse my name.
12 Make una dey respect Sabbath Day "na me get am.
13 Una get six days wey una fit do una work,
14 but na me, una God get the seventh day of the week. Make nobody work that day "not una, una pikin, una donkey or any other animals, not even foreigners wey dey live for una towns. And no make una slaves do any work.
15 This special day go remind una say I use my mighty hand rescue una from slavery for Egypt.
16 Make una dey respect una father and mother, and una go live long and successful life for the land I dey give una.
17 No kill person.
18 Dey faithful for marriage.
19 No dey thief.
20 No dey tell lie about other people.
21 No dey think say you go take anything wey belong to another person "not a house, a wife, a husband, a slave, ox, donkey, or any other thing.
22 When we gather on top mountain, God use loud voice follow us talk from dark cloud. Na God give us these commands, and na only these. And he write them on top two flat stones and give them to me.
23 When fire dey burn on top mountain, and una hear as the voice dey come from darkness, una tribal leaders come meet me
24 and say: Today, the LORD our God don show us how powerful and glorious he be. He follow us talk from fire, and we come know say people fit live, even as God follow them talk.
25 But we no wan make that terrible fire kill us, and if we continue to dey hear God voice, we go die.
26 Shey any other person don hear the only true God talk from fire before, as we don hear? And even if dem do, shey dem dey alive to talk about am?
27 Moses, go up make you go hear God. Make you come back and tell us, and we go do everything he talk.
28 God don hear una and say: Moses, I hear wetin the people tell you, and I approve am.
29 I wish say dem go always worship me with fear and dey go wan obey me! Then successful life go always dey for them and their pikin.
30 Now, tell them make dem return to their tents,
31 but make you come back here to me. After I tell you my laws and commands, you go repeat them to the people, so that dem fit obey these laws for the land I dey give them.
32 People of Israel, make una dey sure say una obey God laws and commands.
33 Obey all of them, so that everything go fit go well with una, and so that una go continue to dey live good life for the land wey the LORD una God dey give una.
