1 PAULU, iranṣẹ Ọlọrun, ati Aposteli Jesu Kristi, gẹgẹ bi igbagbọ́ awọn ayanfẹ Ọlọrun, ati imọ otitọ ti mbẹ gẹgẹ bi ìwa-bi-Ọlọrun,

1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

2 Ni ireti ìye ainipẹkun, ti Ọlọrun, Ẹniti kò le ṣèké, ti ṣe ileri ṣaju ipilẹṣẹ aiye;

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

3 Ṣugbọn ni akokò tirẹ̀ o fi ọ̀rọ rẹ̀ hàn ninu iwasu, ti a fi le mi lọwọ gẹgẹ bi aṣẹ Ọlọrun Olugbala wa;

3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

4 Si Titu, ọmọ mi nitõtọ nipa igbagbọ́ ti iṣe ti gbogbo enia: Ore-ọfẹ, ãnu, ati alafia, lati ọdọ Ọlọrun Baba wá ati Kristi Jesu Olugbala wa.

4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

5 Nitori idi eyi ni mo ṣe fi ọ silẹ ni Krete, ki iwọ ki o le ṣe eto ohun ti o kù, ki o si yan awọn alagba ni olukuluku ilu, bi mo ti paṣẹ fun ọ.

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

6 Bi ẹnikan ba ṣe alailẹgan, ọkọ aya kan, ti o ni ọmọ ti o gbagbọ́, ti a kò fi sùn fun wọbia, ti nwọn kò si jẹ alagidi.

6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

7 Nitori o yẹ ki biṣopu jẹ alailẹgàn, bi iriju Ọlọrun; ki o má jẹ aṣe-tinu-ẹni, oninu-fùfu, ọmuti, aluni, olojukokoro;

7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

8 Bikoṣe olufẹ alejò ṣiṣe, olufẹ awọn enia rere, alairekọja, olõtọ, ẹni mimọ́, ẹni iwọntunwọnsi;

8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

9 Ti o ndì ọ̀rọ otitọ mu ṣinṣin eyiti iṣe gẹgẹ bi ẹ̀kọ́, ki on ki o le mã gbani-niyanju ninu ẹ̀kọ́ ti o yè kõro, ki o si le mã da awọn asọrọ-odi lẹbi.

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

10 Nitoripe ọpọlọpọ awọn alagídi, awọn asọ̀rọ asan, ati awọn ẹlẹtàn ni mbẹ, papa awọn ti ikọla:

10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

11 Awọn ẹniti a kò le ṣaipa li ẹnu mọ, nitoriti wọn nda odidi agbo ilé rú, ti nwọn nkọni ni ohun ti kò yẹ nitori ere aitọ́.

11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

12 Ọkan ninu wọn, ani woli awọn tikarawọn, wipe, Eke ni awọn ará Krete nigbagbogbo, ẹranko buburu, ọlẹ alajẹki.

12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

13 Otitọ li ẹrí yi. Nitorina bá wọn wi gidigidi, ki nwọn ki o le yè kõro ni igbagbọ́;

13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

14 Ki nwọn máṣe fiyesi ìtan lasan ti awọn Ju, ati ofin awọn enia ti nwọn yipada kuro ninu otitọ.

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

16 Nwọn jẹwọ pe nwọn mọ̀ Ọlọrun; ṣugbọn nipa iṣẹ nwọn nsẹ́ ẹ, nwọn jẹ ẹni irira, ati alaigbọran, ati niti iṣẹ rere gbogbo alainilari.

16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
