1 TABI ẹnyin ha ṣe alaimọ̀, ará (nitori awọn ti o mọ̀ ofin li emi mba sọrọ), pe ofin ni ipa lori enia niwọn igbati o ba wà lãye?
1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
2 Nitori obinrin ti o ni ọkọ, ìwọn igbati ọkọ na wà lãye, a fi ofin dè e mọ́ ọkọ na; ṣugbọn bi ọkọ na ba kú, a tú u silẹ kuro ninu ofin ọkọ na.
2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
3 Njẹ bi o ba ni ọkọ miran nigbati ọkọ rẹ̀ wà lãye, panṣaga li a o pè e: ṣugbọn bi ọkọ rẹ̀ ba kú, o bọ lọwọ ofin na; ki yio si jẹ panṣaga bi o ba ni ọkọ miran.
3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5 Nitori igbati awa wà nipa ti ara, ifẹkufẹ ẹ̀ṣẹ, ti o wà nipa ofin, o nṣiṣẹ ninu awọn ẹ̀ya ara wa lati so eso si ikú.
5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6 Ṣugbọn nisisiyi a fi wa silẹ kuro ninu ofin, nitori a ti kú si eyiti a ti dè wa sinu rẹ̀: ki awa ki o le mã sìn li ọtun Ẹmí, ki o má ṣe ni ode ara ti atijọ.
6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 Njẹ awa o ha ti wi? ofin ha iṣe ẹ̀ṣẹ bi? Ki a má ri. Ṣugbọn emi kò ti mọ̀ ẹ̀ṣẹ, bikoṣepe nipa ofin: emi kò sá ti mọ̀ ojukokoro, bikoṣe bi ofin ti wipe, Iwọ kò gbọdọ ṣojukòkoro.
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
8 Ẹ̀ṣẹ si ti ipa ofin ri aye, o ṣiṣẹ onirũru ifẹkufẹ ninu mi. Nitori laisi ofin, ẹ̀ṣẹ kú.
8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
9 Emi si ti wà lãye laisi ofin nigbakan rì: ṣugbọn nigbati ofin de, ẹ̀ṣẹ sọji, emi si kú.
9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
10 Ofin ti a ṣe fun ìye, eyi li emi si wa ri pe o jẹ fun ikú.
10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
11 Nitori ẹ̀ṣẹ ti ipa ofin ri aye, o tàn mi jẹ, o si ti ipa rẹ̀ lù mi pa.
11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
12 Bẹ̃ni mimọ́ li ofin, mimọ́ si li aṣẹ, ati ododo, ati didara.
12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
13 Njẹ ohun ti o dara ha di ikú fun mi bi? Ki a má ri. Ṣugbọn ẹ̀ṣẹ ki o le farahan bi ẹ̀ṣẹ o nti ipa ohun ti o dara ṣiṣẹ́ ikú ninu mi, ki ẹ̀ṣẹ le ti ipa ofin di buburu rekọja.
13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
14 Nitori awa mọ̀ pe ohun ẹmí li ofin: ṣugbọn ẹni ti ara li emi, ti a ti tà sabẹ ofin.
14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 Nitori ohun ti emi nṣe, emi kò mọ̀: nitori ki iṣe ohun ti mo fẹ li emi nṣe; ṣugbọn ohun ti mo korira, li emi nṣe.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16 Ṣugbọn biobaṣepe ohun ti emi kò fẹ eyini li emi nṣe, mo gba pe ofin dara.
16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
17 Njẹ nisisiyi kì iṣe emi li o nṣe e mọ́, bikoṣe ẹ̀ṣẹ ti o ngbe inu mi.
17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 Nitori emi mọ̀ pe ko si ohun rere kan ti ngbe inu mi, eyini ninu ara mi: nitori ifẹ ohun ti o dara mbẹ fun mi, ṣugbọn ọna ati ṣe e li emi kò ri.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 Nitori ire ti emi fẹ emi kò ṣe: ṣugbọn buburu ti emi kò fẹ, eyini li emi nṣe.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Ṣugbọn biobaṣepe ohun ti emi kò fẹ, eyini li emi nṣe, emi ki nṣe e mọ́, bikoṣe ẹ̀ṣẹ ti ngbe inu mi.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 Njẹ mo ri niti ofin pe, bi emi ti nfẹ lati mã ṣe rere, buburu a ma wà lọdọ mi.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 Inu mi sá dùn si ofin Ọlọrun nipa ẹni ti inu:
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 Ṣugbọn mo ri ofin miran ninu awọn ẹ̀ya ara mi, ti mba ofin inu mi jagun ti o si ndì mi ni igbekun wá fun ofin ẹ̀ṣẹ, ti o mbẹ ninu awọn ẹ̀ya ara mi.
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 Emi ẹni òṣi! tani yio gbà mi lọwọ ara ikú yi?
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 Mo dupẹ lọwọ Ọlọrun nipasẹ Jesu Kristi Oluwa wa. Njẹ nitorina emi tikarami nfi inu jọsin fun ofin Ọlọrun; ṣugbọn mo nfi ara jọsin fun ofin ẹ̀ṣẹ.
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
