1 Ọ̀RỌ Aguri, ọmọ Jake, ọ̀rọ ẹkọ́ ti ọkunrin na ti sọ, fun Itieli, ani fun Itieli ati Ukali.

1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,

2 Nitõtọ emi ṣiwère jù ẹlomiran lọ, emi kò si ni imoye enia.

2 Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.

3 Emi kò tilẹ kọ́ ọgbọ́n, emi kò tilẹ ni ìmọ ohun mimọ́.

3 I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.

4 Tali o ti gòke lọ si ọrun, tabi ti o si sọkalẹ wá? tali o kó afẹfẹ jọ li ọwọ rẹ̀? tali o di omi sinu aṣọ; tali o fi gbogbo opin aiye le ilẹ? Orukọ rẹ̀ ti ijẹ, ati orukọ ọmọ rẹ̀ ti ijẹ, bi iwọ ba le mọ̀ ọ?

4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

5 Gbogbo ọ̀rọ Oluwa jẹ́ otitọ: on li asà fun gbogbo awọn ti o gbẹkẹ wọn le e.

5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

6 Iwọ máṣe fi kún ọ̀rọ rẹ̀, ki on má ba ba ọ wi, a si mu ọ li eke.

6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

7 Ohun meji ni mo tọrọ lọdọ rẹ; máṣe fi wọn dù mi ki emi to kú.

7 Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:

8 Mu asan ati eke jìna si mi: máṣe fun mi li òṣi, máṣe fun mi li ọrọ̀; fi onjẹ ti o to fun mi bọ mi.

8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

9 Ki emi ki o má ba yó jù, ki emi ki o má si sẹ́ ọ, pe ta li Oluwa? tabi ki emi má ba tòṣi, ki emi si jale, ki emi si ṣẹ̀ si orukọ Ọlọrun mi.

9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

10 Máṣe fi iranṣẹ sùn oluwa rẹ̀, ki o má ba fi ọ bu, ki iwọ má ba jẹbi.

10 Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

11 Iran kan wà ti nfi baba rẹ̀ bu, ti kò si sure fun iya rẹ̀.

11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

12 Iran kan wà, ti o mọ́ li oju ara rẹ̀, ṣugbọn a kò ti iwẹ̀ ẹ nù kuro ninu ẽri rẹ̀.

12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

13 Iran kan wà, yẽ, oju rẹ̀ ti gbega to! ipenpeju rẹ̀ si gbé soke.

13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

14 Iran kan wà, ehin ẹniti o dabi idà, erigi rẹ̀ dabi ọbẹ, lati jẹ talaka run kuro lori ilẹ, ati awọn alaini kuro ninu awọn enia.

14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

15 Eṣúṣu ni ọmọbinrin meji, ti nkigbe pe, Muwá, muwá. Ohun mẹta ni mbẹ ti a kò le tẹ lọrùn lai, ani mẹrin kì iwipe, o to.

15 The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:

16 Isa-okú, ati inu àgan; ilẹ ti kì ikún fun omi; ati iná ti kì iwipe, o to.

16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.

17 Oju ti o sin baba rẹ̀ jẹ, ti o gàn ati gbọ́ ti iya rẹ̀, kanakáná ẹba odò ni yio yọ ọ jade, ọmọ idì a si mu u jẹ.

17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

18 Ohun mẹta ni mbẹ ti o ṣe iyanu fun mi, nitõtọ, mẹrin li emi kò mọ̀.

18 There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:

19 Ipa idì loju ọrun; ipa ejò lori apata: ipa ọkọ̀ loju okun; ati ìwa ọkunrin pẹlu wundia.

19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

20 Bẹ̃ni ìwa agbere obinrin: o jẹun, o si nù ẹnu rẹ̀ nù, o si wipe, emi kò ṣe buburu kan.

20 Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

21 Nitori ohun mẹta, aiye a di rũru, ati labẹ mẹrin ni kò le duro.

21 For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

22 Iranṣẹ, nigbati o jọba; ati aṣiwère, nigbati o yo fun onjẹ;

22 For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;

23 Fun obinrin, ti a korira, nigbati a sọ ọ di iyale; ati fun iranṣẹbinrin, nigbati o di arole iya rẹ̀.

23 For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

24 Ohun mẹrin ni mbẹ ti o kerejù lori ilẹ, sibẹ nwọn gbọ́n, nwọn kọ́ni li ẹkọ́.

24 There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

25 Alailagbara enia li ẽra, ṣugbọn nwọn a pese onjẹ wọn silẹ ni ìgba ẹ̀run.

25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

26 Alailagbara enia li ehoro, ṣugbọn nwọn a ṣe ìho wọn ni ibi palapala okuta.

26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

27 Awọn ẽṣú kò li ọba, sibẹ gbogbo wọn a jade lọ li ọwọ́-ọwọ́;

27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

28 Ọmọle fi ọwọ rẹ̀ dì mu, o si wà li ãfin awọn ọba.

28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.

29 Ohun mẹta ni mbẹ ti nrìn rere, nitõtọ, mẹrin li o dára pupọ ni ìrin rirìn:

29 There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:

30 Kiniun ti o lagbara julọ ninu ẹranko, ti kò si pẹhinda fun ẹnikan;

30 A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;

31 Ẹṣin ti a dì lẹgbẹ; ati obukọ; ati ọba larin awọn enia rẹ̀.

31 A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.

32 Bi iwọ ba ti ṣiwère ni gbigbe ara rẹ soke, tabi bi iwọ ba ti ronú ibi, fi ọwọ rẹ le ẹnu rẹ.

32 If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.

33 Nitõtọ, mimì wàra ni imu orí-àmọ́ wá, ati fifun imu ni imu ẹ̀jẹ jade; bẹ̃ni riru ibinu soke ni imu ìja wá.

33 Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
