1 JESU si lọ si ori òke Olifi.

1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

2 O si tún pada wá si tẹmpili ni kutukutu owurọ̀, gbogbo enia si wá sọdọ rẹ̀; o si joko, o nkọ́ wọn.

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3 Awọn akọwe ati awọn Farisi si mu obinrin kan wá sọdọ rẹ̀, ti a mu ninu panṣaga; nigbati nwọn si mu u duro larin,

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4 Nwọn wi fun u pe, Olukọni, a mu obinrin yi ninu panṣaga, ninu ṣiṣe e pãpã.

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Njẹ ninu ofin, Mose paṣẹ fun wa lati sọ iru awọn bẹ̃ li okuta pa: ṣugbọn iwọ ha ti wi?

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6 Eyini nwọn wi, nwọn ndán a wò, ki nwọn ba le ri ohun lati fi i sùn. Ṣugbọn Jesu bẹrẹ silẹ, o si nfi ika rẹ̀ kọwe ni ilẹ.

6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 Ṣugbọn nigbati nwọn mbi i lẽre sibẹsibẹ, o gbé ara rẹ̀ soke, o si wi fun wọn pe, Ẹniti o ba ṣe ailẹṣẹ ninu nyin, jẹ ki o kọ́ sọ okuta lù u.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 O si tún bẹ̀rẹ̀ silẹ, o nkọwe ni ilẹ.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 Nigbati nwọn gbọ eyi, nwọn si jade lọ lọkọ̃kan, bẹrẹ lati ọdọ awọn àgba titi de awọn ti o kẹhin; a si fi Jesu nikan silẹ, ati obinrin na lãrin, nibiti o ti wà.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 Jesu si gbé ara rẹ̀ soke, o si wi fun u pe, Obinrin yi, awọn dà? kò si ẹnikan ti o da ọ lẹbi?

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 O wipe, Kò si ẹnikan, Oluwa. Jesu si wi fun u pe, Bẹ̃li emi na kò da ọ lẹbi: mã lọ, lati igbayi lọ má dẹṣẹ̀ mọ́.

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

12 Jesu si tun sọ fun wọn pe, Emi ni imọlẹ aiye; ẹniti o ba tọ̀ mi lẹhin kì yio rìn ninu òkunkun, ṣugbọn yio ni imọlẹ ìye.

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

13 Nitorina awọn Farisi wi fun u pe, Iwọ njẹri ara rẹ; ẹrí rẹ kì iṣe otitọ.

13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.

14 Jesu dahùn o si wi fun wọn pe, Bi mo tilẹ njẹri fun ara mi, otitọ li ẹrí mi: nitoriti mo mọ̀ ibiti mo ti wá, mo si mọ̀ ibiti mo nlọ; ṣugbọn ẹnyin kò le mọ̀ ibiti mo ti wá, ati ibiti mo nlọ.

14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

15 Ẹnyin nṣe idajọ nipa ti ara; emi kò ṣe idajọ ẹnikẹni.

15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

16 Ṣugbọn bi emi ba si ṣe idajo, otitọ ni idajọ mi: nitori emi nikan kọ́, ṣugbọn emi ati Baba ti o rán mi.

16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

17 Ẹ si kọ ọ pẹlu ninu ofin nyin pe, otitọ li ẹrí enia meji.

17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

18 Emi li ẹniti njẹri ara mi, ati Baba ti o rán mi si njẹri fun mi.

18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

19 Nitorina nwọn wi fun u pe, Nibo ni Baba rẹ wà? Jesu dahùn pe, Ẹnyin kò mọ̀ mi, bẹli ẹ kò mọ̀ Baba mi: ibaṣepe ẹnyin mọ̀ mi, ẹnyin iba si ti mọ̀ Baba mi pẹlu.

19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

20 Ọ̀rọ wọnyi ni Jesu sọ nibi iṣura, bi o ti nkọ́ni ni tẹmpili: ẹnikẹni ko si mu u; nitori wakati rẹ̀ ko ti ide.

20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

21 Nitorina o tun wi fun wọn pe, Emi nlọ, ẹnyin yio si wá mi, ẹ ó si kú ninu ẹ̀ṣẹ nyin: ibiti emi gbe nlọ, ẹnyin kì ó le wá.

21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.

22 Nitorina awọn Ju wipe, On o ha pa ara rẹ̀ bi? nitoriti o wipe, Ibiti emi gbé nlọ, ẹnyin kì ó le wá.

22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.

23 O si wi fun wọn pe, Ẹnyin ti isalẹ wá; emi ti oke wá: ẹnyin jẹ ti aiye yi; emi kì iṣe ti aiye yi.

23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

24 Nitorina ni mo ṣe wi fun nyin pe, ẹ ó kú ninu ẹ̀ṣẹ nyin: nitori bikoṣepé ẹ ba gbagbọ́ pe, emi ni, ẹ ó kú ninu ẹ̀ṣẹ nyin.

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

25 Nitorina nwọn wi fun u pe, Tani iwọ iṣe? Jesu si wi fun wọn pe, Ani eyinì ti mo ti wi fun nyin li àtetekọṣe.

25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

26 Mo ni ohun pupọ̀ lati sọ, ati lati ṣe idajọ nipa nyin: ṣugbọn olõtọ li ẹniti o ran mi, ohun ti emi si ti gbọ lati ọdọ rẹ̀ wá, nwọnyi li emi nsọ fun araiye.

26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

27 Kò yé wọn pe, ti Baba li o nsọ fun wọn.

27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.

28 Nitorina Jesu wi fun wọn pe, Nigbati ẹ ba gbé Ọmọ-enia soke, nigbana li ẹ o mọ̀ pe, emi ni, ati pe emi kò dá ohunkohun ṣe fun ara mi; ṣugbọn bi Baba ti kọ́ mi, emi nsọ nkan wọnyi.

28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

29 Ẹniti o rán mi si mbẹ pẹlu mi: kò jọwọ emi nikan si; nitoriti emi nṣe ohun ti o wù u nigbagbogbo.

29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

30 Bi o ti nsọ nkan wọnyi, ọ̀pọ enia gbà a gbọ́.

30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.

31 Nitorina Jesu wi fun awọn Ju ti o gbà a gbọ́ pe, Bi ẹnyin ba duro ninu ọ̀rọ mi, nigbana li ẹnyin jẹ ọmọ-ẹhin mi nitõtọ.

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

32 Ẹ ó si mọ̀ otitọ, otitọ yio si sọ nyin di omnira.

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

33 Nwọn da a lohùn wipe, Irú-ọmọ Abrahamu li awa iṣe, awa kò si ṣe ẹrú fun ẹnikẹni ri lai: iwọ ha ṣe wipe, Ẹ o di omnira?

33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

34 Jesu da wọn lohun pe, Lõtọ, lõtọ ni mo wi fun nyin, Ẹnikẹni ti o ba ndẹṣẹ, on li ẹrú ẹ̀ṣẹ.

34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

35 Ẹrú kì si igbé ile titilai: Ọmọ ni igbe ile titilai.

35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

36 Nitorina bi Ọmọ ba sọ nyin di omnira, ẹ ó di omnira nitõtọ.

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

37 Mo mọ̀ pe irú-ọmọ Abrahamu li ẹnyin iṣe; ṣugbọn ẹ nwá ọ̀na ati pa mi, nitori ọ̀rọ mi kò ri àye ninu nyin.

37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.

38 Ohun ti emi ti ri lọdọ Baba ni mo nsọ: ẹnyin pẹlu si nṣe eyi ti ẹnyin ti gbọ lati ọdọ baba nyin.

38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

40 Ṣugbọn nisisiyi ẹnyin nwá ọ̀na ati pa mi, ẹniti o sọ otitọ fun nyin, eyi ti mo ti gbọ́ lọdọ Ọlọrun: Abrahamu kò ṣe eyi.

40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

41 Ẹnyin nṣe iṣẹ baba nyin. Nigbana ni nwọn wi fun u pe, A ko bí wa nipa panṣaga: a ni Baba kan, eyini li Ọlọrun.

41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

42 Jesu wi fun wọn pe, Ibaṣepe Ọlọrun ni Baba nyin, ẹnyin iba fẹran mi: nitoriti emi ti ọdọ Ọlọrun jade, mo si wá: bẹ̃li emi kò si wá fun ara mi, ṣugbọn on li o rán mi.

42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

43 Ẽtiṣe ti ède mi kò fi yé nyin? nitori ẹ ko le gbọ́ ọ̀rọ mi ni.

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45 Ṣugbọn nitori emi sọ otitọ fun nyin, ẹ kò si gbà mi gbọ́.

45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

46 Tani ninu nyin ti o ti idá mi li ẹbi ẹ̀ṣẹ? Bi mo ba nsọ otitọ ẽṣe ti ẹnyin kò fi gbà mi gbọ́?

46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

47 Ẹniti iṣe ti Ọlọrun, a ma gbọ́ ọ̀rọ Ọlọrun: nitori eyi li ẹnyin kò ṣe gbọ, nitori ẹnyin kì iṣe ti Ọlọrun.

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

48 Awọn Ju dahùn nwọn si wi fun u pe, Awa kò wi nitõtọ pe, ara Samaria ni iwọ iṣe, ati pe iwọ li ẹmi èṣu?

48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

49 Jesu dahùn wipe, Emi kò li ẹmi èṣu; ṣugbọn emi mbọlá fun Baba mi, ẹnyin kò si bọla fun mi.

49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

50 Emi kò wá ogo ara mi: ẹnikan mbẹ ti o nwà a ti o si nṣe idajọ.

50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.

51 Lõtọ, lõtọ ni mo wi fun nyin, Bi ẹnikan ba pa ọ̀rọ mi mọ́, ki yio ri ikú lailai.

51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

52 Awọn Ju wi fun u pe, Nigbayi ni awa mọ̀ pe iwọ li ẹmi èṣu. Abrahamu kú, ati awọn woli; iwọ si wipe, Bi ẹnikan ba pa ọ̀rọ mi mọ́, kì yio tọ́ ikú wò lailai.

52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.

53 Iwọ ha pọ̀ju Abrahamu baba wa lọ, ẹniti o kú? awọn woli si kú: tani iwọ nfi ara rẹ pè?

53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?

54 Jesu dahùn wipe, Bi mo ba nyìn ara mi li ogo, ogo mi kò jẹ nkan: Baba mi ni ẹniti nyìn mi li ogo, ẹniti ẹnyin wipe, Ọlọrun nyin ni iṣe:

54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

55 Ẹ kò si mọ̀ ọ; ṣugbọn emi mọ̀ ọ: bi mo ba si wipe, emi kò mọ̀ ọ, emi ó di eke gẹgẹ bi ẹnyin: ṣugbọn emi mọ̀ ọ, mo si pa ọ̀rọ rẹ̀ mọ́.

55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

56 Abrahamu baba nyin yọ̀ lati ri ọjọ mi: o si ri i, o si yọ̀.

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

57 Nitorina awọn Ju wi fun u pe, Ọdún rẹ kò ti ito adọta, iwọ si ti ri Abrahamu?

57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

58 Jesu si wi fun wọn pe, Lõtọ, lõtọ ni mo wi fun nyin, Ki Abrahamu to wà, emi ti wà.

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

59 Nitorina nwọn gbé okuta lati sọ lù u: ṣugbọn Jesu fi ara rẹ̀ pamọ́, o si jade kuro ni tẹmpili.

59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
