1 LẸHIN nkan wọnyi ajọ awọn Ju kan kò; Jesu si gòke lọ si Jerusalemu.

1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2 Adagun omi kan si wà ni Jerusalemu, leti bodè agutan, ti a npè ni Betesda li ède Heberu, ti o ni iloro marun.

2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

3 Ninu wọnyi li ọ̀pọ awọn abirùn enia gbé dubulẹ si, awọn afọju, arọ ati awọn gbigbẹ, nwọn si nduro dè rirú omi.

3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

5 Ọkunrin kan si wà nibẹ̀, ẹniti o wà ni ailera rẹ̀ li ọdún mejidilogoji.

5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

6 Bi Jesu ti ri i ni idubulẹ, ti o si mọ̀ pe, o pẹ ti o ti wà bẹ̃, o wi fun u pe, Iwọ fẹ ki a mu ọ larada bi?

6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7 Abirùn na da a lohùn wipe, Ọgbẹni, emi kò li ẹni, ti iba gbé mi sinu adagun, nigbati a ba nrú omi na: bi emi ba ti mbọ̀ wá, ẹlomiran a sọkalẹ sinu rẹ̀ ṣiwaju mi.

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8 Jesu wi fun u pe, Dide, gbé akete rẹ, ki o si mã rin.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 Lọgan a si mu ọkunrin na larada, o si gbé akete rẹ̀, o si nrìn. Ọjọ na si jẹ ọjọ isimi.

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

10 Nitorina awọn Ju wi fun ọkunrin na ti a mu larada pe, Ọjọ isimi li oni: kò tọ́ fun ọ lati gbé akete rẹ.

10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

11 O si da wọn lohùn wipe, Ẹniti o mu mi larada, on li o wi fun mi pe, Gbé akete rẹ, ki o si mã rìn.

11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

12 Nigbana ni nwọn bi i lẽre wipe, ọkunrin wo li ẹniti o wi fun ọ pe, Gbé akete rẹ, ki o si ma rìn?

12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

13 Ẹniti a mu larada na kò si mọ̀ ẹniti iṣe: nitori Jesu ti kuto nibẹ̀, nitori awọn enia pipọ wà nibẹ̀.

13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.

14 Lẹhinna Jesu ri i ni tẹmpili o si wi fun u pe, Wo o, a mu ọ larada: máṣe dẹṣẹ mọ́, ki ohun ti o buru jù yi lọ ki o má bà ba ọ.

14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

15 Ọkunrin na lọ, o si sọ fun awọn Ju pe, Jesu li ẹniti o mu on larada.

15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

16 Nitori eyi li awọn Ju si nṣe inunibini si Jesu, nwọn si nwá ọ̀na ati pa a, nitoriti a nṣe nkan wọnyi li ọjọ isimi.

16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

17 Ṣugbọn Jesu da wọn lohùn wipe, Baba mi nṣiṣẹ titi di isisiyi, emi si nṣiṣẹ.

17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

19 Nigbana ni Jesu dahùn, o si wi fun wọn pe, Lõtọ, lõtọ ni mo wi fun nyin, Ọmọ kò le ṣe ohunkohun fun ara rẹ̀, bikoṣe ohun ti o ba ri pe Baba nṣe: nitori ohunkohun ti o ba nṣe, wọnyi li Ọmọ si nṣe bẹ̃ gẹgẹ.

19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

20 Nitori Baba fẹràn Ọmọ, o si fi ohun gbogbo ti on tikararẹ̀ nṣe hàn a: on ó si fi iṣẹ ti o tobi ju wọnyi lọ hàn a, ki ẹnu ki o le yà nyin.

20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

21 Nitoripe gẹgẹ bi Baba ti njí okú dide, ti o si nsọ wọn di ãye; bẹ̃li Ọmọ si nsọ awọn ti o fẹ di ãye.

21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

22 Nitoripe Baba ki iṣe idajọ ẹnikẹni, ṣugbọn o ti fi gbogbo idajọ le Ọmọ lọwọ:

22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

23 Ki gbogbo enia ki o le mã fi ọlá fun Ọmọ gẹgẹ bi nwọn ti nfi ọlá fun Baba. Ẹniti kò ba fi ọlá fun Ọmọ, kò fi ọlá fun Baba ti o rán a.

23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

24 Lõtọ, lõtọ ni mo wi fun nyin, Ẹnikẹni ti o ba gbọ́ ọ̀rọ mi, ti o ba si gbà ẹniti o rán mi gbọ́, o ni iye ti kò nipẹkun, on kì yio si wá si idajọ; ṣugbọn o ti ré ikú kọja bọ si ìye.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

25 Lõtọ, lõtọ ni mo wi fun nyin, Wakati na mbọ̀, o si de tan nisisiyi, nigbati awọn okú yio gbọ́ ohùn Ọmọ Ọlọrun: awọn ti o ba gbọ yio si yè.

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

26 Nitoripe gẹgẹ bi Baba ti ni iye ninu ara rẹ̀; gẹgẹ bẹ̃li o si fifun Ọmọ lati ni iye ninu ara rẹ̀;

26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

27 O si fun u li aṣẹ lati mã ṣe idajọ pẹlu, nitoriti on iṣe Ọmọ-enia.

27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28 Ki eyi ki o máṣe yà nyin li ẹnu; nitoripe wakati mbọ̀, ninu eyiti gbogbo awọn ti o wà ni isà okú yio gbọ́ ohùn rẹ̀.

28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29 Nwọn o si jade wá; awọn ti o ṣe rere, si ajinde ìye; awọn ti o si ṣe buburu, si ajinde idajọ.

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

30 Emi kò le ṣe ohun kan fun ara mi: bi mo ti ngbọ́, mo ndajọ: ododo si ni idajọ mi; nitori emi kò wá ifẹ ti emi tikarami, bikoṣe ifẹ ti ẹniti o rán mi.

30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

31 Bi emi ba njẹri ara mi, ẹrí mi kì iṣe otitọ.

31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

32 Ẹlomiran li ẹniti njẹri mi; emi si mọ̀ pe, otitọ li ẹrí mi ti o jẹ́.

32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

33 Ẹnyin ti ranṣẹ lọ sọdọ Johanu, on si ti jẹri si otitọ.

33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

34 Ṣugbọn emi kò gba ẹrí lọdọ enia: ṣugbọn nkan wọnyi li emi nsọ, ki ẹnyin ki o le là.

34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

35 On ni fitila ti o njó, ti o si ntànmọlẹ: ẹnyin si fẹ fun sã kan lati mã yọ̀ ninu imọlẹ rẹ̀.

35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

36 Ṣugbọn emi ni ẹri ti o pọ̀ju ti Johanu lọ: nitori iṣẹ ti Baba ti fifun mi lati ṣe pari, iṣẹ na pãpã ti emi nṣe ni njẹri mi pe, Baba li o rán mi.

36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37 Ati Baba ti o rán mi ti jẹri mi. Ẹnyin kò gbọ́ ohùn rẹ̀ nigba kan ri, bẹ̃li ẹ kò ri àwọ rẹ̀.

37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

38 Ẹ kò si ni ọ̀rọ rẹ̀ lati ma gbé inu nyin: nitori ẹniti o rán, on li ẹnyin kò gbagbọ́.

38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

39 Ẹnyin nwá inu iwe-mimọ́ nitori ẹnyin rò pe ninu wọn li ẹnyin ni ìye ti kò nipẹkun; wọnyi si li awọn ti njẹri mi.

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

40 Ẹnyin kò si fẹ lati wá sọdọ mi, ki ẹnyin ki o le ni ìye.

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

41 Emi kò gbà ogo lọdọ enia.

41 I receive not honour from men.

42 Ṣugbọn emi mọ̀ nyin pe, ẹnyin tikaranyin kò ni ifẹ Ọlọrun ninu nyin.

42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 Emi wá li orukọ Baba mi, ẹnyin kò si gbà mi: bi ẹlomiran ba wá li orukọ ara rẹ̀, on li ẹnyin ó gbà.

43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

44 Ẹnyin o ti ṣe le gbagbọ́, ẹnyin ti ngbà ogo lọdọ ara nyin, ti kò wá ogo ti o ti ọdọ Ọlọrun nikan wá?

44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

45 Ẹ máṣe rò pe, emi ó fi nyin sùn lọdọ Baba: ẹniti nfi nyin sùn wà, ani Mose, ẹniti ẹnyin gbẹkẹle.

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

46 Nitoripe ẹnyin iba gbà Mose gbọ́, ẹnyin iba gbà mi gbọ́: nitori o kọ iwe nipa ti emi.

46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

47 Ṣugbọn bi ẹnyin kò ba gbà iwe rẹ̀ gbọ́, ẹnyin o ti ṣe gbà ọ̀rọ mi gbọ́?

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
