1 SUGBỌN Jobu dahùn, o si wipe,

1 But Job answered and said,

2 Ẹ tẹti silẹ dẹdẹ si ohùn mi, ki eyi ki o jasi itunu nyin.

2 Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.

3 Ẹ jọwọ mi ki emi sọ̀rọ, lẹhin igbati mo ba sọ tan, iwọ ma fi ṣẹsin nṣo.

3 Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

4 Bi o ṣe ti emi ni, aroye mi iṣe si enia bi, tabi ẽtiṣe ti ọkàn mi kì yio fi ṣe aibalẹ?

4 As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

5 Ẹ wò mi fin, ki ẹnu ki o si yà nyin, ki ẹ si fi ọwọ le ẹnu nyin.

5 Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.

6 Ani nigbati mo ranti, ẹ̀ru bà mi, iwarìri si mu mi lara.

6 Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.

7 Nitori kini enia buburu fi wà li ãyè, ti nwọn gbọ́, ani ti nwọn di alagbara ni ipa!

7 Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

8 Iru-ọmọ wọn fi idi kalẹ li oju wọn pẹlu wọn, ati ọmọ-ọmọ wọn li oju wọn.

8 Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.

9 Ile wọn wà laini ewu, bẹ̃ni ọpa-ìna Ọlọrun kò si lara wọn.

9 Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

10 Akọ-malu wọn a ma gùn, kì isi isé, abomalu wọn a ma bi, ki isi iṣẹnu;

10 Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

11 Nwọn a ma rán awọn ọmọ wọn wẹwẹ jade bi agbo ẹran, awọn ọmọ wọn a si ma jó.

11 They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

12 Nwọn mu ohun ọnà orin timbreli ati dùru, nwọn si nyọ̀ si ohùn ifère.

12 They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13 Nwọn lo ọjọ wọn ninu ọrọ̀; ni iṣẹjukan nwọn a lọ si ipo-okú.

13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

14 Nitorina ni nwọn ṣe wi fun Ọlọrun pe, Lọ kuro lọdọ wa, nitoripe awa kò fẹ ìmọ ipa ọ̀na rẹ!

14 Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

15 Kini Olodumare ti awa o fi ma sin i? ere kili a o si jẹ bi awa ba gbadura si i!

15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

16 Kiyesi i, alafia wọn kò si nipa ọwọ wọn, ìmọ enia buburu jina si mi rére.

16 Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

17 Igba melomelo ni a npa fitila enia buburu kú? igba melomelo ni iparun wọn de ba wọn, ti Ọlọrun isi ma pin ibinujẹ ninu ibinu rẹ̀.

17 How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.

18 Nwọn dabi akeku oko niwaju afẹfẹ, ati bi iyangbo, ti ẹfufu-nla fẹ lọ.

18 They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.

19 Ọlọrun to ìya-ẹ̀ṣẹ rẹ̀ jọ fun awọn ọmọ rẹ̀, o san a fun u, yio si mọ̀ ọ.

19 God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.

20 Oju rẹ̀ yio ri iparun ara rẹ̀, yio si ma mu ninu riru ibinu Olodumare.

20 His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21 Nitoripe alafia kili o ni ninu ile rẹ̀ lẹhin rẹ̀, nigbati a ba ke iye oṣù rẹ̀ kuro li agbedemeji?

21 For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?

22 Ẹnikẹni le ikọ́ Ọlọrun ni ìmọ? on ni sa nṣe idajọ ẹni ibi giga.

22 Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

23 Ẹnikan a kú ninu pipé agbara rẹ̀, ti o wà ninu irọra ati idakẹ patapata.

23 One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

24 Ọpọ́n rẹ̀ kún fun omi-ọmú, egungun rẹ̀ si tutu fun ọra.

24 His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

25 Ẹlomiran a si kú ninu kikoro ọkàn rẹ̀, ti kò si fi inu didun jẹun.

25 And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.

26 Nwọn o dubulẹ bakanna ninu erupẹ, kòkoro yio si ṣùbo wọn.

26 They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

27 Kiyesi i, emi mọ̀ iro inu nyin ati arekereke ti ẹnyin fi gba dulumọ si mi.

27 Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.

28 Nitoriti ẹnyin wipe, nibo ni ile awọn ọmọ alade, ati nibo ni agọ awọn enia buburu nì gbe wà?

28 For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?

29 Ẹnyin kò bere lọwọ awọn ti nkọja lọ li ọ̀na, ẹnyin kò mọ̀ àmi wọn? pe,

29 Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,

30 Enia buburu ni a fi pamọ fun ọjọ iparun, a o si mu wọn jade li ọjọ riru ibinu.

30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

31 Tani yio sọ ipa-ọ̀na rẹ̀ kò o li oju, tani yio si san pada fun u li eyi ti o ti ṣe?

31 Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

32 Sibẹ a o si sin i li ọ̀na ipo-okú, yio si ma ṣọ́ ororì okú.

32 Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.

33 Ogulutu ọfin yio dùn mọ ọ, gbogbo enia yio si ma tọ̀ ọ lẹhin, bi enia ainiye ti lọ ṣiwaju rẹ̀.

33 The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.

34 E ha ti ṣe ti ẹnyin fi ntù mi ninu lasan! bi o ṣepe ni idahùn nyin eké kù nibẹ.

34 How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?
