James 3 - Listen Online
Read James 3
1 ẸNYIN ará mi, ẹ máṣe jẹ olukọni pipọ, ki ẹnyin ki o mọ̀ pe awa ni yio jẹbi ju.
1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
2 Nitori ninu ohun pipọ ni gbogbo wa nṣì i ṣe. Bi ẹnikan kò ba ṣì i ṣe ninu ọ̀rọ, on na li ẹni pipé, on li o si le kó gbogbo ara ni ijanu.
2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
3 Bi a bá si fi ijanu bọ̀ ẹṣin li ẹnu, ki nwọn ki o le gbọ́ ti wa, gbogbo ara wọn li awa si nyi kiri pẹlu.
3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Kiyesi awọn ọkọ̀ pẹlu, bi nwọn ti tobi to nì, ti a si nti ọwọ ẹfũfu lile gbá kiri, itọkọ̀ kekere li a fi ndari wọn kiri, sibikibi ti o bá wù ẹniti ntọ́ ọkọ̀.
4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Bẹ̃ pẹlu li ahọn jẹ ẹ̀ya kekere, o si nfọnnu ohun nla. Wo igi nla ti iná kekere nsun jóna!
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 Iná si ni ahọ́n, aiye ẹ̀ṣẹ si ni: li arin awọn ẹ̀ya ara wa, li ahọn ti mba gbogbo ara jẹ́ ti o si ntinabọ ipa aiye wa; ọrun apãdi si ntinabọ on na.
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 Nitori olukuluku ẹda ẹranko, ati ti ẹiyẹ, ati ti ejò, ati ti ohun ti mbẹ li okun, li a ntù loju, ti a si ti tù loju lati ọwọ ẹda enia wá.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 Ṣugbọn ahọn li ẹnikẹni kò le tù loju; ohun buburu alaigbọran ni, o kún fun oró iku ti ipa-ni.
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 On li awa fi nyìn Oluwa ati Baba, on li a si fi mbú enia, ti a dá li aworan Ọlọrun.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Lati ẹnu kanna ni iyìn ati ẽbú ti njade. Ẹnyin ará mi, nkan wọnyi kò yẹ ki o ri bẹ̃.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Orisun a ha mã sun omi tutù ati omiró jade lati ojusun kanna wá bi?
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Ẹnyin ará mi, igi ọpọtọ ha le so eso olifi bi? tabi ajara le so eso ọpọtọ? bẹ̃li orisun kan kò le sun omiró ati omi tutù.
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
13 Tali o gbọ́n ti o si ni imọ̀ ninu nyin? ẹ jẹ ki o fi iṣẹ rẹ̀ hàn nipa ìwa rere, nipa ìwa tutù ti ọgbọn.
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 Ṣugbọn bi ẹnyin ba ni owú kikorò ati ìja li ọkàn nyin, ẹ máṣe ṣeféfe, ẹ má si ṣeke si otitọ.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 Ọgbọ́n yi ki iṣe eyiti o ti oke sọkalẹ wá, ṣugbọn ti aiye ni, ti ara ni, ti ẹmí èṣu ni.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 Nitori ibiti owú on ìja bá gbé wà, nibẹ̀ ni rudurudu ati iṣẹ buburu gbogbo wà.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 Ṣugbọn ọgbọ́n ti o ti oke wá, a kọ́ mọ́, a si ni alafia, a ni ipamọra, kì isí iṣoro lati bẹ̀, a kún fun ãnu ati fun eso rere, li aisi ègbè, ati laisi agabagebe.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 Eso ododo li a ngbìn li alafia fun awọn ti nṣiṣẹ alafia.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
