Across the River, a New Chapter Begins - October 2026 Report

A large river separates nearly 120 children from our main school activities. This month, one of our teachers, Mr. Amos, crossed that river to begin engaging with the children in their own community.

It is an important beginning. These children, aged between 4 and 16, need consistent teaching, patient guidance, and the opportunity to build the skills that will help them move forward.

As we share this update, we continue to thank God for His love, grace, and mercy. His faithfulness sustains the children, the missionaries, and the work He has entrusted to us.

1. The Progress of the Children and Missionaries

The children and missionaries are doing well, and we thank God for His continued protection and provision.

We are also pleased to report that the children are making significant progress in their academic, social, and spiritual lives. We remain hopeful that, with continued support and guidance, they will continue to grow and develop in these areas.

This month, we sent one of our teachers, Mr. Amos, to cross the river and begin engaging with children in the community on the other side.

We have nearly 120 children who have been unable to join the main school activities because a large river separates their community from ours. These children, aged between 4 and 16, have been left far behind educationally.

Many of them do not even know their exact ages, and most are still learning the alphabet and developing basic writing skills.

This situation highlights the urgent need to send one of the missionaries there. We are hopeful that, with consistent teaching and support, they will gradually catch up with their peers and build a stronger foundation for their future.

3. Community Engagement and Security Awareness

This month, we held a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting with members of the community to discuss security and the roles of parents and community members in promoting safety.

During the meeting, we emphasized the importance of vigilance and community responsibility.

Following our discussions, we encouraged the community to strengthen its local security arrangements. One proposal was for each family to nominate a young person to participate in community security efforts, including training with local hunters.

We continue to emphasize the importance of responsible, lawful, and peaceful community-led security measures to help protect lives and property.

4. Request for Adult Education

Community members have continued to express their desire for us to establish an adult education program.

Many adults recognize the importance of education and are eager to learn basic reading, writing, and other essential skills.

We are currently exploring ways to respond to this request and hope to make adult education part of our future community development efforts and a platform for discipleship.

5. Major Challenges Requiring Prayers

Despite the progress we are making, we continue to face several challenges that require our prayers and attention.

1. High Child and Infant Mortality

We have observed worrying cases of miscarriages and babies dying during childbirth. This situation is deeply concerning and highlights the need for improved access to maternal healthcare, skilled birth attendants, and appropriate medical services.

We ask you to pray for the health and safety of pregnant women, mothers, and newborn babies in these communities.

2. High Levels of Alcohol Abuse

Excessive alcohol consumption remains a significant concern in the region. We pray for positive transformation, greater awareness, and effective community efforts to address this challenge.

3. Teenage Marriage

Early marriage among teenage girls remains another serious challenge in some of the neighboring communities. We desire to see these girls protected, educated, and empowered to have better opportunities for their future.

We ask for prayers for wisdom and strength as we continue to engage families and community leaders on the importance of education, child protection, and the well-being of young girls.

6. Conclusion and Prayer Request

We thank God for the progress we are witnessing and for the opportunity to serve these children and communities.

Although the challenges are significant, we remain committed to the work of transforming lives through education, discipleship, community engagement, and the love of Christ.

We kindly ask you to continue praying for the children, the missionaries, and the entire community.

Thank you for always standing with us in prayer and for being part of what God is doing in the field.

May God continue to bless and strengthen you all.

Greetings from the Field!
