2 Shey your words don catch you before, or shey your promise don trap you before?
3 Well, my pikin, you dey for that person power, but na how you go commot from am be this: run go meet him, and beg him say make he release you.
4 No allow yourself sleep or even stop to rest.
5 Get out of the trap like bird or deer wey dey escape from hunter.
6 Make lazy people learn a lesson from the way wey ants dey live.
7 Dem no get leader, chief, or ruler,
8 But dem dey store their food during summer, dem dey get ready for winter.
9 How long lazy man go lie down for bed? When him go ever stand up?
10 He talk say, I go just sleep small; I go fold my arms and rest small.
11 But as he dey sleep, poverty go attack him like armed robber.
12 Useless, wicked people dey go around dey lie.
13 Dem dey wink and make signals to dey deceive you,
14 All the time dem dey plan evil for their wicked mind, dem cause trouble for everywhere.
15 Because of this, disaster go strike them without warning, and dem go get serious wound.
16 Seven things dey wey God hate and wey he no fit take:
17 Proud look, a tongue wey dey lie, hand wey kill innocent people,
18 mind wey dey make evil plans, leg wey dey run go do evil,
19 witness wey dey tell one lie after another, and someone wey cause trouble among friends.
20 My pikin, do wetin your papa tell you, and no forget wetin your mama don teach you.
21 Keep their words with you always, and lock them for your heart.
22 Na their teaching go lead you when you dey travel, e go protect you for night, and e go advice you during the day.
23 Their instructions na shining light; their correction fit teach you how to live.
24 E fit keep you away from bad women, e fit keep you away from seduction of another man wife.
25 No allow their beauty deceive you; No allow their eyes wey dey flirt trap you.
26 A man fit hire prostitute for price of bread, but adultery go cost him everything wey he get.
27 Shey you fit carry fire for your chest make e no burn your clothes?
28 Shey you fit waka on top hot coal make e no burn your leg?
29 Naso e dey dangerous to sleep with another man wife. Anybody wey do am go suffer.
30 People no dey hate thief if he steal food when he dey hungry;
31 Yet if dem catch him, he go pay back seven times more of wetin he don steal - he must give up everything wey he get.
32 But a man wey commit adultery no get sense. He just dey destroy himself.
33 Shame go catch him and dem go beat am up; nothing go erase him shame.
34 The jealousy of the woman husband go bad; him revenge no dey get limit.
35 He no go accept any payment; no amount of gift go satisfy him anger.
