Numbers 8

¹ God tell Moses say,

² “Tell Aaron say when he put the seven lamp on top lampstand, make he position them so that dem go shine go front.”

³ Aaron obey and position the lamps make dem dey face front of the lampstand.

⁴ Na hammered gold dem use make the lampstand from top to bottom, according to the pattern wey God don show Moses.

⁵ God tell Moses,

⁶ “Separate the Levites from the rest of people of Israel and purify them

⁷ for this way: sprinkle water of purification on them, and tell them make dem shave their body and wash their cloth. Dem go come dey clean.

⁸ Make dem take a young bull and grain offering of flour wey dem mix with oil; and make you take another bull for sin offering.

⁹ Gather the community of Israel together and make the Levites stand for front of my Tabernacle Tent.

¹⁰ The people of Israel go put their hand on top the Levite head,

¹¹ and Aaron go come dedicate the Levites to me as special gift from Israelites, so that dem fit do my work.

¹² The Levites go come put their hands on top heads of the two bull; make he offer one for sin offering, and the other for burnt offering, so that he go perform ritual wey go make Levites pure.

¹³ Dedicate Levites to me as special gift, and make you put Aaron and him son in charge of them.

¹⁴ Na for this way you go separate the Levites from the rest of Israelites, so that dem go belong to me.

¹⁵ After you don purify and dedicate the Levites, dem go fit work in the Tent.

¹⁶ I don use them replace all firstborn sons of Israelites, and dem be my own alone.

¹⁷ When I kill all firstborn wey dey for Egypt, I make the eldest son of each Israelites family as my own, and the firstborn of every animal.

¹⁸ Now, I dey take the Levites instead of all firstborn of Israelites,

¹⁹ and I don say make Aaron and him son dey in charge the Levite, as gift from Israelites, to dey work in Tent for people of Israel and to dey protect Israelites from trouble wey fit strike them if dem come near the Holy Place.”

²⁰ Naso Moses, Aaron, and all people of Israel take dedicate the Levites, as God don command Moses.

²¹ The Levites purify themselves and wash their cloth, and Aaron dedicate them as special gift to God. And he perform purification ritual for them.

²² The people do everything wey God don command Moses about Levites. And naso the Levites qualify to work in Tent, under Aaron and him sons.

²³ God tell Moses say,

²⁴ “Make each Levites dey perform him duties in my Tabernacle Tent from age 25,

²⁵ and he go retire at age 50.

²⁶ After that, he fit help him fellow-Levites to dey perform their duties in the Tent, but make he no perform any service by himself. Na how you go regulate Levites duties be this.”
