Numbers 23

¹ Balaam tell Balak say, “Build seven altars for here, then make you bring seven bulls and seven rams.”

² After Balak don do am, dem sacrifice one bull and one ram on top each altar.

³ Balaam come say, “Wait here beside your offering, and I go come go somewhere to dey alone, maybe God go appear to me. If he show, I go tell you everything wey he say.” And he leave.

⁴ When God appear to him, Balaam day, “I don build seven altars and I don sacrifice a bull and a ram on top each one.”

⁵ God come give Balaam message, and send him back to Balak.

⁶ When Balaam come back, he meet Balak and him officials as dem dey stand beside the offering.

⁷ Balaam say, “King Balak of Moab bring me from Syria mountains say make I come curse people of Israel.

⁸ But how I go fit curse wetin God no curse, or say terrible things when God no talk am?

⁹ I dey see them from mountain top; I dey see them from hills; dem be nation wey dey live on their own; dem know say dem get blessings pass other nations.

¹⁰ Dem dey live alone in peace. Dem fit be army, but dem no dey bother other nations. I hope to dey obey God for all time wey I live, and die in that peace.”

¹¹ Balak say, “Wetin you dey do? I ask you make you come put curse on my enemies, but you dey bless them instead!”

¹² Balaam answer say, “Na only wetin God tell me I fit say.”

¹³ Balak tell Balaam say, “Follow me make we go another place, make we go see small parts of Israelite, you go fit help me curse them from there.”

¹⁴ Naso he take Balaam to Zophim field on top Mount Pisgah. Dem build seven altars for there and sacrifice a bull and a ram on top each one.

¹⁵ Balaam say, “Wait here beside your offering. God go appear to me over there.”

¹⁶ God appear to Balaam and give him another message, make he go tell Balak.

¹⁷ Balaam go back and see him and him officials dey stand by the offering. Balak ask say, “Wetin God talk?”

¹⁸ Balaam answer say, “Come, Balak son of Zippor, hear wetin I wan tell you.

¹⁹ God no be like man! He no dey lie and he no dey change him mind. God dey always keep him promises.

²⁰ Na God command me make I bless these people, and I no fit do anything to change wetin he don do.

²¹ Na the LORD God be king of Israelites. He dey live with them for there, and he no get plan to harm them.

²² Na God bring them out of Egypt, and dey fight for them like wild bull.

²³ No magic charm fit work against them. People go say about Israel say, “See wetin God don do.”

²⁴ Dem be like lion wey dey vex, e dey ready to attack; and dem no go rest until dem suck their enemy blood finish.”

²⁵ Naso Balak shout, “If you no go curse Israel, then at least make you no bless them.”

²⁶ Balaam say, “I don already tell you, na only wetin God tell me I go say.”

²⁷ Balak tell Balaam say, “Come make we go try another place, maybe God go allow you curse Israel from there.”

²⁸ Naso he take Balaam go Mount Peor, where dem see desert.

²⁹ Balaam say, “Build seven altars for here, and bring seven bulls and seven rams.”

³⁰ After Balak don do wetin Balaam ask, he come sacrifice a bull and a ram on each altar.
