Joshua 10

¹ For this time na Adoni Zedek be king of Jerusalem. He hear say Joshua don defeat Ai and destroy am completely. The king find out say Joshua don do same thing to Jericho and hin king. He also get to know say Gibeonites don make agreement with Israel and dem dey live near Jerusalem.

² Naso Adoni Zedek and him people begin dey fear. Gibeon no be small town like Ai. Na very big city e be – e big like any royal city. And na good fighters all the men wey dey the city be, naso the king begin dey fear.

³ King Adoni Zedek of Jerusalem follow King Hoham of Hebron talk. He also talk to King Piriam of Jarmuth, King Japhia of Lachish, and King Debir of Eglon. The King of Jerusalem beg these men say,

⁴ “Make una come with me and help me attack Gibeon. Gibeon don make peace agreement with Joshua and Israelites.”

⁵ Naso these five Amorite kings join their armies together. (The five kings na king of Jerusalem, king of Hebron, king of Jarmuth, king of Lachish, and king of Eglon). Their army go to Gibeon and dem begin dey fight them.

⁶ The people wey dey city of Gibeon send message to Joshua for him camp at Gilgal: “We be your servants! No leave us alone. Come help us! Come quick! Save us! All Amorite kings from hill country don bring their armies together to fight us.”

⁷ Naso Joshua march out of Gilgal with all him army. Him best men dey with am.

⁸ God tell Joshua say, “No fear those armies. I go allow you defeat them. None of them go fit defeat you.”

⁹ Joshua and him army con march overnight to Gibeon, so na surprise e be when he attack them.

¹⁰ God cause confusion between those armies when Israelites attack. Naso Israel defeat them and win a great victory. Israel chase the enemy from Gibeon along road take reach Beth Horon. Israel army kill men all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.

¹¹ As the Amorites dey run away from the Israelites army, God make large hailstones fall on top them take reach Azekah. The hailstone kill plenty men pass wetin swords of Israel soldiers kill.

¹² On the day wey God give men of Israel victory over the Amorites, Joshua follow God talk. For presence of the Israelites he talk say, “Sun, stop on top Gibeon; Moon, stop on top Aijalon Valley.”

¹³ The sun stop and the moon no move until the nation don defeat him enemies. Dem write am inside The Book of Jashar. The sun stop for middle of the sky and e no go down for a whole day.

¹⁴ A day like am never happen before or after that time, when the LORD obey human being. God fight for Israel side!

¹⁵ After this, Joshua and him army go back to camp at Gilgal.

¹⁶ The five Amorites kings don escape and dem dey hide inside cave for Makkedah.

¹⁷ Someone find them, and tell Joshua where dem dey hide.

¹⁸ He talk say, “Make una roll big stones for front of the cave entrance. Put some guards for there,

¹⁹ But no stay there by yourselves. Follow the enemy and continue dey attack them from the back.; no allow them get to their cities! The LORD una God don give una victory over them.”

²⁰ Joshua and the men of Israel kill them, but some of them escape inside their city wall and dem no die.

²¹ Then all Joshua men come back safe to him at the camp for Makkedah. Nobody for the land fit try speak against the Israelites.

²² Joshua con talk say, “Make una open the cave entrance and bring those five kings come out to me.”

²³ Naso dem open the cave, and dem bring out the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon

²⁴ And dem take them to Joshua. Joshua con call all the men of Israel to him and order the officers wey don go with him make dem come out and put their feet for the necks of the kings. Dem do so.

²⁵ Then Joshua tell him officers say, “Make una no fear and make una no let una spirit go down. Make una get strong mind because na wetin God go do to all una enemies be this.”

²⁶ Then Joshua kill the kings and hang them on top five trees, their body dey there till evening.

²⁷ When sun don go down Joshua give orders, and dem bring their body down and throw them inside the cave wey dem don hide before. Dem put large stones for the cave entrance, and dem still dey there.

²⁸ Joshua attack and capture Makkedah and hin king that day. He kill everybody wey dey the city; he no leave any of them alive. He do wetin he don do Jericho king to Makkedah king.

²⁹ After this, Joshua and him army leave Makkedah and dem go attack Libnah.

³⁰ God make Israelites defeat this city and the king. Dem kill every everybody wey dey inside am. Dem do to the king wetin dem don do to Jericho king.

³¹ After this, Joshua and him army move from Libnah go Lachish, dem surround and attack am.

³² God make Israelites defeat Lachish on the second day of the battle. Just as dem don do for Libnah, dem kill everybody wey dey the city.

³³ King Horam of Gezer come help Lachish, but Joshua defeat him and him army and dem no leave anybody alive.

³⁴ Next, Joshua and him army move from Lachish go Eglon, dem surround am and attack am.

³⁵ Na that same day dem capture am and dem kill everybody wey dey there, just as dem don do for Lachish.

³⁶ After this, Joshua and him army leave Eglon and go to Hebron inside hills, dem attack and capture am.

³⁷ Dem kill the king and everybody wey dey live for the city and the nearby towns. Joshua destroy the city completely, just as he don do for Eglon. Dem no leave anybody alive.

³⁸ Then Joshua and him army turn back go Debir and dem attack am.

³⁹ He capture am, with the king and the towns wey near am. Dem kill everybody for there. Joshua do wetin he don do to Hebron and Libnah and hin king to Debir too.

⁴⁰ Joshua defeat all the land. He defeat the kings of the hill country, the eastern slopes, and western foothills, and those of the dry country wey dey for south. He no leave anyone alive; he kill everybody. Na wetin God don command Israel be this.

⁴¹ The battles wey Joshua fight take him from Kadesh Barnea for south reach Gaza near the coast, with all area of Goshen, and reach far north for Gibeon.

⁴² Joshua defeat all these kings and their territory in one battle because the LORD, God of Israel dey fight for Israel.

⁴³ After this, Joshua and him army go back to the camp for Gilgal.
