Job 1

¹ E get one man wey him name na Job, wey dey live for Uz, wey dey worship God and he dey faithful to him. Him na good man, he dey careful not to do anything evil.

² He get seven son and three daughter,

³ And him get seven thousand sheep, three thousand camel, one thousand cattle, and five hundred donkey. He get plenty servant and na him be richest man for east.

⁴ Job son dey do feast turn by turn, wey others go come, and dem dey always invite their three sisters make dem join.

⁵ Job go get up early after each feast and he dey offer sacrifice for each of him children to purify them. He dey do this because he dey think say one of them fit don insult God wey dem no know.

⁶ The day wey all angel wey dey heaven suppose show before the LORD, satan dey among them.

⁷ God ask him, “Wetin you don dey do?” Satan talk say, “I don dey waka here and there, dey waka around the earth.’’

⁸ God ask him say, “Shey you notice my servant Job? Nobody dey for earth wey dey faithful and good as he be. He dey worship me and he dey careful make he no do evil.’’

⁹ Satan talk say, “Shey Job go worship you if he no dey get anything out of am?

¹⁰ You dey always protect him and him family and everything wey him get. You dey bless everything wey him do, and you don give him enough cattle to full the whole country.

¹¹ But now suppose say you take all he get - him go curse you for your front;’’

¹² God tell Satan say, “Alright, everything wey him get dey for your power, but make you no wound Job.” Naso Satan leave.

¹³ One day wey job pikin dey feast for the house of their oldest brother,

¹⁴ A messenger run come meet Job. He talk say, “We dey farm for field with bull, and donkey dey field wey close.

¹⁵ Naso the Sabeans just attack and steal all of them. Dem kill all your servant except me. I be the only person wey escape to come tell you.

¹⁶ Before he finish to dey talk, another servant come and talk say, “Lightning strike the sheep and shepherd and e kill all of them. I be the only person wey escape to come tell you.”

¹⁷ Before he finish to dey talk, another servant enter and he talk say, “Three Chaldean band raider attack us, dem take your camel, and dem kill all your servant except me. I be the only person wey escape to come tell you.’’

¹⁸ Before him finish to dey talk, another servant enter and he talk say, “Your children dey do feast for your oldest son house,

¹⁹ As storm dey sweep come from desert, e blow the house down and kill all of them. I be the only one wey escape to come tell you.’’

²⁰ Job con stand up and tear him cloth. He shave him hair commot and him fall for ground.

²¹ Him talk say, “I no get anything when dem born me, and I go die with nothing. Na God dey give, and now him don take away. I dey praise him name!

²² Even for everything wey don happen, Job no sin to blame God.
