Jeremiah 7

¹ God send me go gate of the Temple where people of Judah go worship.

² He tell me make I stand for there and announce wetin

³ Almighty God, God of Israel, wan tell them: “Make una change the way wey una dey live and the things wey una dey do, and I go allow una to dey live for here.

⁴ Stop to dey believe those deceit word, ‘We dey safe! Na Temple of God be this, na Temple of God be this, na Temple of God be this!’

⁵ “Change the way wey una dey live and stop the things wey una dey do. Make una dey treat one anothers well.

⁶ Stop to dey take advantage of foreigner, orphan, and widow. Make una stop to dey kill innocent people for this land. Make una stop to dey worship other god, because that go destroy una.

⁷ I go allow una to dey live for here in the land wey I give una ancestor as permanent possession, if una change.

⁸ “Look, una put una trust for deceit word.

⁹ Una dey steal, murder, dey commit adultery, dey lie under oath, dey offer sacrifice for Baal, and una dey worship god wey una no know before.

¹⁰ Una do this things wey I hate and then una come stand for my presence, for my own Temple, and una dey talk say, “We dey safe!’

¹¹ Shey una think say my Temple na place wey una go dey hide for robbers? I don see wetin una dey do.

¹² Make una go Shiloh the first place wey I chose make una dey worship me, and see wetin I do to am because of sin of you people of Israel.

¹³ Una don commit all these sins, even though say I speak to una over and over again, una no gree listen. Una no go answer when I call.

¹⁴ And so, wetin I do to Shiloh, I go do am to this my Temple, wey una trust. Here for this place wey I give una and una ancestor, I go do the same thing wey I do to Shiloh.

¹⁵ I go pursue una commot for my front as I pursue una relative, people of Israel. I, The LORD, don talk.”

¹⁶ God say, “Jeremiah, make una pray for this people, make you no cry or pray because of them; make you no beg me, because I no go listen to you.

¹⁷ Shey you no see wetin dem dey do for the city of Judah and for street of Jerusalem?

¹⁸ The children dey gather firewood, the men dey make fire, and the women dey mix dough to bake cake for the god wey dem call the Queen of Heaven. Dem also put wine offering for other god, so dem fit hurt me.

¹⁹ But shey na me dem dey hurt? No, them dey hurt theirselves and dey bring shame on top themselves.

²⁰ And so I, the Almighty God, go pour out my anger on top this Temple. I go pour am out on top people and animal, also on top trees and crop. My vex go be like fire wey nobody fit pull out.

²¹ “My people, some sacrifice wey una burn completely for alter, and some wey una fit chop. But wetin I, the LORD, dey talk be say, una fit chop everything.

²² I no give una ancestor any command about burnt offering or any kind sacrifice, when I bring them commot for Egypt.

²³ But I command them make dem obey me, so I fit be their God and them fit be my people. And I tell them make dem dey live as I don command them, so things fit go well with them.

²⁴ But them no obey or pay attention. Instead them do wetin their stubborn and evil heart tell them say make dem do, and dem become worse instead of better.

²⁵ From the day wey una ancestors don commot for Egypt till today, I don dey send my servant the prophet to una.

²⁶ Yet nobody listen or pay attention. Instead, una become more stubborn and rebel pass una ancestor.

²⁷ “So Jeremiah, you go tell my people all these message, but dem no go listen to you; you go call them, but dem no go answer.

²⁸ You go tell them say their nation no obey me, the LORD their God, or make dem learn from their punishment. Faithfulness don die. Dem no dey even talk about am again.

²⁹ “Make una mourn, una people of Jerusalem; cut una hair and make una throw them away. Make una sing funeral song for hilltops, because I, the LORD, dey vex, and I don reject my people.

³⁰ “People of Judah don do evil things, dem don put their idols, wey I hate, for my Temple and do make am unclean.

³¹ For valley of Hinnom them don build alter wey dem dey call Topheth, so that them fit sacrifice their son and daughter inside fire. I no command them say make dem do this-e no even enter my mind.

³² And so the time go come when dem no go call am Topheth or Valley of Hinnom again, but Valley of Slaughter. Dem go bury people for there because another place no go dey to bury them.

³³ The dead body go be food for bird and wild animal, and nobody go scare them.

³⁴ The land go turn desert for the city of Judah and for street of Jerusalem I go end sound of joy and gladness and I go end happy sound of wedding party.
