Jeremiah 47

¹ Before king of Egypt attack Gaza, God follow me talk about Philistia.

² He talk say: “Look! Waters dey rise for north and go rush like a river in flood. Dem go cover the land and everything wey dey on top am, cities and people wey dey live for there. People go cry out for help; everyone on earth go cry bitterly.

³ Dem go hear the foot beat of horse, the bang of chariot, the echo of wheel. Parents no go turn back for their children; dem go hang their hand for their side.

⁴ Time don come to destroy Philistia, to cut off all the help wey remain from Tyre and Sidon. I, the LORD, go destroy Philistines, all wey come from the land wey near water for Crete.

⁵ Great sorrow don come to the people of Gaza, and people of Ashkelon dey silent. How long the rest of Philistia go mourn?

⁶ Una cry out, ‘Sword of God! How long you go continue dey cut? Go back to where you dey stay, make you stay there and rest!’

⁷ But how e fit rest when I don give am work to do? I don command am make e attack Ashkelon and the people wey dey live for coast.”
