Jeremiah 24
God show me two basket of figs wey dey for front of the Temple.{This na after king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia don take away son of Jehoiakim, king Jehoiachin of Judah, as prisoner from Judah go Babylonia, together with leaders for Judah, craftsmen and skilled workers.)
Na good fig dey for the first basket, those wey don ripe early; na bad fig dey the other basket, wey dey bad to chop.
Then God tell me say, Jeremiah, wetin you see? I answer him say, Na figs. The good ones dey very good, and the bad ones don spoil, e dey too bad to chop.
So, God tell me say,
I, the LORD, the God of Israel, think say the people wey dem take away go Babylonia be like this good fig, and I go treat them well.
I go watch over them and I go bring them come back to this land. I go build them up and I no go tear them down; I go plant them and I no go uproot up.
I go give them the desire to know say I be the LORD. Then dem go be my people, and I go be their God, because dem go come back to me with all their heart.
As for king Zedekiah of Judah, the politician round him, and the rest of the people of Jerusalem wey don stay for this land or move go Egypt I, the LORD, go treat all of them like these figs wey dey too bad to eat.
I go bring that kind disaster on them that all the nation of the world go fear. People go laugh at them, make jokes about them, ridicule them and use their name as curse for everywhere wey I scatter them.
I go bring war, hunger, and disease on them until no one of them remain for the land wey I give them and their ancestors.
