Genesis 48

¹ After some time, dem tell Joseph say him father no well, he come take him two sons: Manasseh and Ephraim and dem go see Jacob.

² When dem tell Jacob say him son Joseph don come see him, he come gather strength and he siddon on top bed.

³ Jacob tell Joseph say, "Almighty God appear to me for Luz for Canaan land and he bless me.

⁴ He tell me say, "I go give you plenty children so that your descendants go become many nations. I go give this land to your descendants as possession forever."

⁵ Joseph, your two sons wey them born for you for Egypt before I come here, dem be my own, Ephraim and Manasseh just be like my sons Reuben and Simeon.

⁶ If you get any other sons, dem no go be my own. Their inheritance go come through Ephraim and Manasseh. I dey do this because of Rachel your mother. Na Canaan land she die, e no far from Ephrath,

⁷ as I dey come back from Mesopotamia and na road wey go Ephrath I bury her.

⁸ When Jacob see Joseph boys, he ask him say, "Who be this boys?"

⁹ Joseph come answer him say, "Na my sons wey God don give me for Egypt".

¹⁰ Jacob say, "bring them make I bless them." Jacob no dey see well because he don old. Joseph come bring the boys to him and he hug them and kiss them.

¹¹ Jacob tell Joseph say, "I no expect say I go see you again, now God don allow me see your children".

¹² Naso Joseph take them from Jacob lap, he come bow down before him and he dey face ground.

¹³ Joseph put Ephraim for Jacob left and Manasseh for him right.

¹⁴ But Jacob cross him hand and put him right hand for Ephraim head even though na him dey younger and he put him left hand for Manasseh head.

¹⁵ He come bless Joseph say, "God wey my fathers Abraham and Isaac serve go bless this boys. God wey don lead me reach this day go bless them.

¹⁶ The angel wey don rescue me from all harm go bless them. My name, and names of my father: Abraham and Isaac go live on through these boys. Them go get plenty children and plenty descendants".

¹⁷ Joseph come vex when he say him father put right hand for Ephraim head. Naso he take him father hand say make he move am from Ephraim head.

¹⁸ He tell him father say, "Father, no be that way, na this one be elder. Put your right hand for him head."

¹⁹ Him father no gree and he say, "My son, I know. Manasseh descendants go also be great people but him younger brother go great pass him and him descendants go become great nations".

²⁰ Naso he bless them that day say, "Israelites go use your name to dey bless others, dem go say, ''God go make you be like Ephraim and Manasseh''. For this way, Jacob put Ephraim before Manasseh.

²¹ Jacob come tell Joseph, say as you dey see, I don almost die but God go dey with you and He go take you back to your ancestors land.

²² Na you I dey give Shechem, no be your brothers, the fertile land wey I take from Amorites with my sword and bow.
