Genesis 40

¹ After sometime, Pharaoh cup bearer and him chief baker come offend him,

² he come begin dey vex with them,

³ and he put them for prison wey dey the house of captain of gaurds for the same place wey dem keep Joseph.

⁴ Dem come spend a long time for the prison and the captain come assign Joseph as their servant.

⁵ One night for the prison, the cup bearer and the chief baker come get dream, and the dreams get different meanings.

⁶ When Joseph come meet them for morning, he see say dem no dey happy,

⁷ he come ask them, why una dey look worried today?

⁸ Them answer, each of us don dream and nobody dey here to explain wetin the dream mean to us. Joseph come say na God dey give the ability to interprete dreams, make una tell me una dreams.

⁹ Naso the cup bearer say, for my dream, e get one grape vine for my front

¹⁰ wey get three branches, as the leaves dey come out, the blossom come show and the grape come ripe.

¹¹ I dey hold the king cup, naso I hold the grape and I squeeze am inside the cup, I come give am to the king.

¹² Joseph come say na wetin e mean be this, the three branches na three days.

¹³ In three days time, the king go release you, he go pardon you and he go put you back for your position and you go give him cup as you dey do before when you be him cup bearer.

¹⁴ But abeg remember me when everything dey go well for you and make you mention my name to king so that I fit get out of prison.

¹⁵ After all, dem kidnap me come from the land of Hebrew, and even for here in Egypt I no do anything to deserve say make dem put me for prison.

¹⁶ When the chief baker see say interpretation of cup bearer dream dey favourable, he come tell Joseph say, "me too get a dream." I dey carry three bread basket for my head,

¹⁷ but the third basket na different kind of pastries for king and birds come dey eat them.

¹⁸ Joseph come answer, na wetin e mean be this, the three baskets na three days,

¹⁹ in three days time the king go release you and he go cut your head, he go come hang your body on pole and birds go eat your flesh.

²⁰ For Pharaoh birthday three days later, he come prepare a banquet for all him officials and staff.

²¹ He release him cup bearer and him chief baker, and he bring them before him officials. He come restore the cup bearer to him formal position,

²² but he kill the chief baker. Everything happen as Joseph don talk am.

²³ But the cup bearer no even think about Joseph, he come forget about him.
