Genesis 32
1 As Jacob dey go him way, Angel of God come meet him.
2 When Jacob see them, he say, "Na the camp of God be this. Naso he name the place "Mahanaim".
3 Jacob come send messengers to him brother Esau who dey live for region of Sier, for the land of Edom.
4 He tell them say, "Give this message to my master Esau. Greetings from your servant Jacob, until now I don dey live with uncle Laban, and now
5 I get cattles, donkeys, flock of sheep snd goat and plenty servants both male and female. I don send this messengers to inform my Lord say I dey come, and I dey hope say you go dey friendly to me."
6 The messengers come return to Jacob after dem don deliver the message, and dem report say, "We meet your brother Esau and he don already dey him way to meet you with army of four hundred men.
7 Jacob come dey fear when he hear the news. He come divide him household into two groups, including the flocks and herds, and camels.
8 He think say if Esau meet one group and he attack am, maybe the other group go fit escape.
9 Jacob come pray, "Oh God of my grandfather Abraham, oh God of my father Isaac, you tell me say make I return to my homeland and to my relatives, and you promise me say you go treat me kindly.
10 I no dey worthy of all the love and faithfulness wey You don show to me your servant. When I leave home and cross Jordan river, I no get anything but walking stick. Now my household go full two large camps.
11 God, abeg rescue me from the hand of my brother. I dey fear say he dey come attack me with my wives and children.
12 But, you promise me say, "You go surely treat me kindly, and I go multiply your descendant until dem plenty like sand wey dey inside sea, wey nobody fit count."
13 Jacob come stay for where him dey for the night, he come select gifts wey him go present him brother.
14 Two hundred female goats, twenty male goats, two hundred ewes, twenty rams,
15 thirty female camels with their youngs, forty cows, ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten male donkeys.
16 He come divide them into groups, and he come assign each of them to different servant. He come go tell him servants, begin dey go for front with these animals but make you keep distance with each other.
17 He give this instruction to the man wey dey lead the first group. When my brother Esau meet you, he go ask, "Who servant you be? Where you dey go? Who get this animals?
18 You must reply say, "Dem belong to your servant Jacob, but dem be gift for him master Esau. See, he dey come behind us.
19 Jacob come give the same instruction to the second and the third herdsmen and to those ones wey dey follow them behind. You go say the same thing to Esau when you meet him,
20 and make you dey sure to say, " Your servant Jacob dey behind us." Jacob begin dey think say, I go try to make him happy by sending this gift for my front, when i see him maybe he go dey friendly to me.
21 Naso the gifts dey go for front, and Jacob himself spend night for that camp.
22 For night, Jacob stand up and he take him two wives, him two servants wife and him eleven sons and cross Jabokk river with them.
23 After he don take them to the other side, he come send him possession join.
24 Naso only Jacob remain for the camp and one man come fight with him until morning don dey break.
25 When the man see say he no fit win the fight, he come touch Jacob hip and he dislocate am.
26 The man come say allow me go because morning don come. Jacob come reply am, I no go let you go unless you bless me.
27 The man come ask, wetin be your name? Him reply, Jacob.
28 The man come tell him, your name no go be Jacob again, from now your name go be Israel because you don fight with God and with men and you don win.
29 Jacob come say, "Abeg tell me your name." The man reply am, "Why you wan know my name?" Naso he bless Jacob for there.
30 Jacob come name the place Peniel wey mean God face, because say I don see God face to face, yet He don spare my life.
31 Sun come dey rise as Jacob dey leave Peniel and him come dey limp because of the injury wey dey him hip.
32 Even today, people of Israel no dey chop the tendon wey dey near the hip socket because of wetin happen that night when the man dislocate Jacob hip.
