Genesis 27

¹ Now Isaac don old and he no dey see again. He come call him elder son Esau, and he tell him say,

² "My son you see say I don old, and I fit die anytime.

³ Take your bow and arrow, go kill animal for me. 4Cook that sweet food wey I like and bring am for me. After I don eat am, I go give you my final blessing before I die."

⁵ As Isaac dey talk to Esau, Rebecca dey hear am. When Esau go hunt,

⁶ she come tell Jacob, "I just hear as your father dey tell Esau say,

⁷ "Bring me one animal make you cook am for me. After I don eat am, I go give you my blessing for the presence of God before I die.

⁸ Rebecca come say, "My son, hear me and do wetin I tell you.

⁹ Go to where we dey keep animals make you kill two fat young goat, so that I go cook them and make that food wey your father like so much.

¹⁰ You go take am to him make him eat, and he go bless you before him die.

¹¹ But Jacob tell him mother say, "You know Esau get hair for skin, but me I get smooth skin,

¹² if my father go touch me and he know say I dey deceive him, I go bring curse upon myself instead of blessings.

¹³ Him mother come answer say, "any curse wey go fall on you, make e fall on me; just do wetin I talk and go get the goat for me."

¹⁴ Naso he go bring the goat for her, and she cooked the kind food wey him father like. 15She come take Esau cloth wey fine pass and she wear am for Jacob.

¹⁶ She put goat skin for him hand, and the part of him neck wey no get hair.

¹⁷ She give him the sweet food with the bread wey she don bake.

¹⁸ Jacob come go meet him father and say, "Father!" He answer him. Which of my son you be?

¹⁹ Jacob answer say, "I be your elder son Esau; I don do wetin you tell me to do. Abeg stand up make you eat the meat wey I don bring for you, so that you go give me your blessing.

²⁰ Isaac come say, "My son, how you take get am so fast? Jacob come answer, "Na the LORD your God help me find am."

²¹ Isaac come tell Jacob, "Abeg come close to me so that I fit touch you. You be Esau for real?

²² Jacob come move close to him father, he come touch him and he say, "Your voice dey sound like Jacob voice, but your hand be like Esau hand.

²³ He no recognize Jacob, because him hand get hair like Esau own. And when he wan bless him,

²⁴ he asked him again, "You be Esau for real? He answer him, "Yes."

²⁵ Isaac come say, "Bring the meat for me, after I don eat am, I go give you my blessing." Jacob come bring am to him and he bring wine for him to drink.

²⁶ Him father come say to him, "My son come close and kiss me."

²⁷ As he come kiss him, Isaac smell him cloth - naso he bless him. And he say, "the smell of my son be like the smell of the field wey God don bless."

²⁸ God go give you dew from heaven and he go make your field fertile! He go give you plenty corn and wine!

²⁹ Nations go be your servants, people go bow down before you. You go rule over your relatives, and your mother descendants go bow down before you. Anyone wey curse you go receive curse, and anyone wey bless you you go receive blessing.

³⁰ Isaac come finish to dey give him blessing, and as Jacob leave, him brother Esau just come in from hunting,

³¹ He go cook sweet food and he take am to him father. He say, "Father, abeg stand up make you eat sweet food wey I bring for you, so that you fit give me your blessing.

³² Isaac come ask, "Who you be?" He answer, "I be your elder son Esau."

³³ Isaac come begin dey shake and he say, "Who come be the person wey bring bush animal for me? I don eat am before you come. And I don bless him, and yes, naso he go be.

³⁴ When Esau hear this, he come cry out bitterly and he say, "Give me blessing too father."

³⁵ Isaac come answer, "Na your brother come deceive me, and he don take your blessing away.

³⁶ Esau say, "Na the second time wey he dey cheat me be this. No wonder him name na Jacob. He take my right as first born, and now he don take away my blessing. Shey you no get any blessing for me?"

³⁷ Isaac come answer, "I don already make him master over you, and I don make all him relatives him slave. I don give him corn and wine. My son, I no get anything to do for you.

³⁸ Esau come dey beg him father say, "Na only one blessing you get? Bless me too." He begin to dey cry.

³⁹ Isaac come say to him, "No dew from heaven for you, and no fertile field for you.

⁴⁰ Na by your sword you go live, but you go be your brother slave. And when you rebel, you go break away from him control.

⁴² Esau come hate Jacob, because him father don give Jacob blessing. He think say, the time wey him father go die don dey near; then he go kill Jacob. When Rebecca come hear about Esau plan, she send for Jacob and she say, "Hear me, your brother Esau don dey plan to fight you and kill you.

⁴³ Now my son, do as I tell you. Go meet my brother Laban, wey dey Haran,

⁴⁴ and stay with him, until your brother no dey vex again

⁴⁵ and he don forget wetin you do to him, then I go send someone to bring you back. Why I go lose my two sons on the same day?

⁴⁶ Rebecca come tell Isaac say, "I dey sick and tired of this Esau wife, if Jacob marry one of these Hittites women, I go just die."
