Genesis 26

¹ Hunger come strike the land, as he don happen before for Abraham time. Naso Isaac go Gerar, where Abimelech king of Philistines dey live.

² God come appear to Isaac and he say, "No go Egypt and do wetin I tell you.

³ Live for this land as a foreigner and I go be with you and bless you. I dey confirm say I go give these land to your descendants, just as I don promise Abraham your father.

⁴ I go make your descendant plenty like stars wey dey sky, and I go give them this land. Through your descendant, all nation of the earth go receive blessing.

⁵ I go do these because Abraham dey always obey my command, and he dey always follow my instruction.

⁶ Naso Isaac stay for Gerar.

⁷ When the men wey dey live there ask Isaac about him wife Rebecca, he say, "She be my sister." He dey fear to tell them say she be him wife, he think say dem go kill him, so that dem go fit collect him wife, because she fine.

⁸ But after some time, king of Philistine, Abimelech dey look through him window and he see Isaac as he dey touch Rebecca.

⁹ Immediately, Abimelech come call for Isaac and he shout say, "She be your wife! Why you talk say she be your sister?" Isaac come reply say, "Because I dey fear say someone go kill me to get her from me."

¹⁰ Abimelech come say, "Why you do this kind thing to us? One of my people fit don take your wife and sleep with her, and you for don make us commit great sin to God.

¹¹ Abimelech come warn all the people say, "Dem go kill anyone wey touch this man or him wife.

¹² Isaac come plant seed for that land, and that year him harvest

¹⁰⁰ times of wetin him don plant, because God bless him.

¹³ He continue to dey prosper and him become a very rich man.

¹⁴ The philistines come become to dey jealous of him, because him get plenty sheep and cattle including plenty servant.

¹⁵ Naso dem block all the well wey the servant of him father Abraham don dig wen Abraham still dey alive.

¹⁶ Abimelech com tell Isaac say, "Leave our country. You don become powerful pass us."

¹⁷ Naso Isaac live and he build him camp for the valley of Gerar. Him come stay there for some time.

¹⁸ The well wey dem don dig during the time of Abraham wey the philistines don block after Abraham days, Isaac come dig am again and give them the same name wey him father don give them.19Isaac servant come dig a well for the valley, and he see water.

²⁰ Shepherds of Gerar come quarrel with Isaac shepherd, and they say, "This water na our own." Naso Isaac call the well "Quarrel".

²¹ Isaac servant build another well, and dem quarrel about that one too, naso him name am "Enmity."

²² He come move from there and he dig another well. This one no quarrel dey about am, na so he name am "Freedom." He say, "God don give us freedom to dey live in the land and we go prosper for here.

²³ Isaac come leave and he go to Beersheba.

²⁴ That night God appear to him and say, "Na me be God of your father Abraham, no fear I go dey with you, I go bless you and give you plenty descendant because say I don promise my servant Abraham."

²⁵ Isaac come build altar there and he worship God. He come build camp there and him servant dig another well.

²⁶ Abimelech come with Ahuzzath him adviser and Phicol commander of him army from Gerar to see Isaac.

²⁷ Naso Isaac ask, "Why you come see me, because you no dey friendly with me before and you chase me commot for your country?"

²⁸ He come answer, "Na now we know say God dey with you, and we think say we suppose get agreement between us, we wan make you promise us say,

²⁹ you no go harm us as we no harm you. We dey kind to you and we allow you commot peacefully. Now he dey clear say God don bless you."

³⁰ Isaac come prepare food for them and dem eat and drink. 31For early next morning, each of them make their promise and dem seal am with vow. Isaac come say good-bye to them, and dem depart as friends.

³² That same day, Isaac servant come tell him about the well wey dem don dig. He say, "We don see water."

³³ He come name the well "Vow." And na how Beersheba city get him name be that.

³⁴ When Esau reach 40 years old, he marry two Hittite women, Judith the daughter of Beeri, and Basemath the daughter of Elon.

³⁵ Dem come make life terrible for Isaac and Rebecca.
