Genesis 18

¹ God come appear again to Abraham near oak tree wey belong to Mamre. One day Abraham dey sit at the entrance of him tent during part of the day wey dey very hot,

² he come look up and he notice say three men dey stand nearby. When he see them, he run go meet them and he welcome them. Bow him face down to face ground,

³ he say my Lord, if una no go mind stop here for a while, rest for the shade of this tree.

⁴ Make dem bring water to wash una face and as una don honor una servant with this visit,

⁵ Make dem prepare some food for una so that una go fit get strength to continue your journey. Dem reply say, "Alright, do wetin you don talk".

⁶ Naso Abraham run inside him tent and tell Sarah say, "Quickly take the best of your flour and bake some bread.

⁷ Abraham come run to where dem dey keep animal to pick one cow wey dey good and fat and he give him servant to rush go prepare am.

⁸ When the food don ready, Abraham take some yoghurt and milk and roasted meat, he come serve the three men. As dem eat, Abraham wait for them for shade of the tree.

⁹ The visitors come ask, "Where Sarah your wife dey?" Abraham come reply say she dey inside tent.

¹⁰ One of them come say, "I go return to you about this time next year and your wife Sarah go get a son". Sarah dey hear wetin dem dey talk from the tent.

¹¹ Abraham and Sarah dey very old for this time, and Sarah don pass the time wey she fit get pikin.

¹² Naso she laugh to herself and say how a woman wey don old like me go fit enjoy that kind pleasure, even as my husband don old too.

¹³ The LORD come tell Abraham say, "Why Sarah dey laugh, why she go talk say how old woman like her go fit get pikin? Anything dey too hard for God?

¹⁴ I go return about this time next year and Sarah go get a son".

¹⁵ Because Sarah dey fear, she say she no laugh, but God say yes she laugh. The men con leave and them go to a place where them dey look towards Sodom.

¹⁶ As dem leave, Abraham go with them so that he go fit send them on their way.

¹⁷ The LORD come say to Himself, "I no go hide wetin I want do from Abraham.

¹⁸ Him descendants go become great and mighty and all nations wey dey earth go dey blessed through him.

¹⁹ I don single him out, so that he go command him son and descendants to obey me, and do wetin dey right. Then I go do everything wey I don promise Abraham.

²⁰ Naso God tell Abraham say, "I don hear about how people dey complain about Sodom and Gomorrah, and their sins too much.

²¹ I dey go down go check if their actions dey wicked reach as I don hear, if not, I wan hear.

²² The other men come turn and dem begin dey go Sodom but the LORD stay with Abraham.

²³ Abraham come move near the LORD and ask him, "You go destroy innocent and guilty people together?

²⁴ If fifty innocent people dey the city, You go destroy the whole city? You no go spare am so that You fit save the fifty?

²⁵ Surely you no go kill innocent with guilty. E no possible. You no fit do am. If you do, innocents go suffer punishment with guilty, that one no possible. The judge of earth suppose do wetin dey right.

²⁶ God come reply say, "if I find 50 people wey dey righteous for Sodom, I go spare the entire city for their sake".

²⁷ Abraham come speak again, abeg forgive say I dey bold to speak to you Lord, I be man and I no get right to say anything.

²⁸ Suppose say na only 45 righteous people dey instead of fifty, You go still destroy the city? And God say, "I no go destroy am if I find 45 people wey dey righteous there.

²⁹ Abraham con talk say, "Suppose say na only 40 people." He reply, "I no go do am if 40 people dey.

³⁰ Abeg, no vex Lord but I go talk again, what if na only thirty? "I no go do am, if I find thirty".

³¹ Abraham say abeg forgive my boldness as I continue to dey speak to you Lord, suppose say na only twenty dey? He say I no go destroy the city for the sake of the twenty.

³² Finally, Abraham say, "LORD abeg no vex with me if I speak one more time. Suppose say na only ten dey there." The LORD reply say, "I no go destroy am for the sake of ten."

³³ After God don finish to dey speak with Abraham, He go him way and Abraham go back to him tent.
