Exodus 21
1 Na the laws wey you go give Israelites be this:
2 If una buy Hebrew slave, he go serve una for six years. For seventh year una go set am free and he no go pay anything.
3 If he never marry when he become una slave, he no go take wife when he dey leave; but if he don marry when he become una slave, he fit take him wife dey go.
4 if him master give am wife and she born sons or daughters, the woman and the children belong to him master, and the man go leave alone.
5 But if the slave talk say he love him master, him wife, and him children and no wan leave,
6 him master go take am to place of worship. Then he go make him stand against the door or door-post and pierce him ear. He go be slave for life.
7 “If a man sell him daughter as slave, she no go dey free, just as male slaves be.
8 If na to a man wey go marry her he sell am to, but he no like her, then he go sell her back to her father; her master no fit sell her to foreigner, because he don treat her unfair.
9 if a man buy female slave to give him son, he go treat her like daughter.
10 If a man take second wife, he must continue to dey give him first wife the same amount of food and cloth with same right wey she get before.
11 If he no fulfil him duty to her, he go set her free and he no go collect any payment.
12 If anyone hit and kill another person, make dem kill am too.
13 But if na accident and he no mean to kill am, he fit escape to a place wey I go show una, and he go dey safe for there.
14 But if anyone vex and kill another person, make dem kill am, even if he run go my altar for safety.
15 “Anyone wey hit him father or mother, make dem kill am.
16 Anyone wey kidnap someone, whether to sell am or keep am as slave, make dem kill am.
17 Anyone wey curse him father or mother, make dem kill am.
18-19 If fight dey happen and one person hit another with stone or fist, but e no kill the person, make dem no punish the person. If the person wey dem hit dey for bed, but fit get up later and walk with stick, the one wey hit them go pay for their time loss and take care of them until dem get well.
20 If a slave owner beat him slave with stick, whether male or female, and the slave go die for the spot, na the slave owner go receive punishment.
21 But if the slave no die for a day or two, make dem no punish the master. The loss of him property don dey enough as punishment.
22 If some men dey fight and dem hurt pregnant woman reach say she loose her child, but she no injure for any other way, make the one wey hurt her pay any fine wey the woman husband ask, as judge approve.
23 But if the woman get injury, the punishment go be life for life,
24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.
26 If someone hit him male or female slave for eye and put am out, he go free the slave as payment for the eye.
27 If na teeth he knock out, he go free the slave as payment for the teeth.
28 If a bull knock person to death, make dem stone am, and make dem no eat am; but make dem punish the owner.
29 But if the bull don dey attack people before and dem don warn the owner, but the owner no keep am – if e knock person to death, make dem stone am, and make una kill the owner too.
30 But if dem allow the owner to pay fine to safe am, make he make full payment.
31 If the bull kill a boy or girl, make una apply the same rule.
32 If the bull kill male or female slave, the owner go pay slave owner thirty pieces of silver, and dem go stone the bull to death.
33 If person take off cover of a pit or if he dig one and no cover am, and a bull or donkey fall inside am,
34 he must pay for the animal. He go pay the money to the owner, and he fit keep the dead animal.
35 If person bull kill another person bull, both of them go sell the live bull and share the money; dem go divide the meat of the dead animal.
36 But if dem find out say the bull don dey attack before and the owner no keep am, he go suffer the loss to give the other man a live bull, but he fit keep the dead animal.
