Exodus 13

¹ God tell Moses say,

² "Dedicate all firstborn male to me, because every Israelite firstborn male, and every animal firstborn male belong to me."

³ Moses tell the people say, "Make una remember this day " the day wey una leave Egypt, the place where una be slaves before. Na today be the day wey God bring una out by him great power. Make una no eat leaven bread.

⁴ Una dey leave Egypt this day for the first month, month of Abib.

⁵ God don promise una ancestor say He go give una land of Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites, and Jebusites. When he bring una reach that rich and fertile land, una must celebrate festival for first month of every year.

⁶ Una must eat unleavened bread for seven days and seventh day go be festival to honor God.

⁷ Una no go eat bread wey dem make with yeast for seven days; no yeast or leavened bread must dey anywhere for una land.

⁸ When festival start, explain to una sons say una dey do all this because of wetin God do for una when una leave Egypt.

⁹ E go be a reminder, like something wey dem tie for una hand or for una forehead; e go remind una to dey read and study the Law of God, because God bring una out of Egypt by him great power.

¹⁰ Dey celebrate this festival for appointed time each year.

¹¹ God go take una reach the land of Canaanites, wey he don promise you and your ancestors. When he give am to una,

¹² una go offer every firstborn male to God. Na God get every firstborn male of una animals,

¹³ but you go buy back every firstborn male donkey by using lamb replace am. If you no wan buy back the donkey, make you break the neck. You must buy back una firstborn male child.

¹⁴ For future, when una son ask wetin this thing mean, you go answer am say, "God bring us out with great power from Egypt, where we be slaves before.

¹⁵ When Egypt king dey stubborn and refuse to let us go, God kill every firstborn male for land of Egypt, both human and animal. Na why we dey sacrifice every firstborn male of animal to God, but we dey buy back our firstborn sons.

¹⁶ The thing go be reminder, like something wey dem tie for our hand or for our forehead; e go remind us say God bring us commot for Egypt by him great power.

¹⁷ When Egypt king let people go, God no take them through the road wey go up coast of Philistia, even though na shortest way. God think say, "I no wan make people change their mind and return to Egypt when dem see say dem go need to fight."

¹⁸ Instead, he lead them for roundabout way through desert wey go toward Red Sea. The Israelites dey armed for battle.

¹⁹ Moses take Joseph body with him, because Joseph don make Israelites promise to do am. Joseph don say, "When God rescue una, una must carry my body with una from this place."

²⁰ The Israelites come leave Sukkoth and dem camp for Etham wey dey edge of desert.

²¹ During day God dey go for their front in pillar of cloud to show them way, and for night he dey go for their front in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that dem fit travel for night and day.
