Esther 9
The thirteenth day of Adar don come, the day wey the royal announcement go take effect, the day when the enemies of Jews dey hope to get them in their power. But instead, the Jews don succeed over them.
Jews organize themselves to attack anyone wey try to harm them for the Jewish quarters of every city for the empire. People for everywhere dey fear them, and no one fit stand against them.
In fact, all the province officials - governors, administrators, and royal representatives - dey help the Jews because all of them dey fear Mordechai.
Dem don know throughout the empire now say Mordechai na powerful man for the palace and he dey grow more powerful.
Naso the Jews fit do anything wey dem want with their enemies. Dem attack them with swords and dem slaughter them.
The Jews kill 500 people for Susa, wey be the capital city.
Among them na ten sons of Haman, son of Hammedatha, wey be the enemy of Jews: Parshandatha, Dalphon, Aspatha,
Poratha, Adalia, Aridatha,
Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai, and Vaizatha.
But dem no rob them.
Dem report the number of people wey dem kill for Susa to the king that day.
He con tell Queen Esther say, "For Susa alone the Jews don kill 500 people, wey include ten sons of Haman. Wetin dem do for other province? Wetin you want now? You go get am. Tell me wetin else you want, and you go get am."
Esther answer say, "If e please Your Majesty, make you allow the Jews do wetin dem allow them do today for Susa tomorrow. And make you order say make dem hang the bodies of the ten sons of Haman for the post wey dem dey hang."
The king order say make them do this, and he issue the command for Susa. Dem display the bodies of the Haman ten sons for public.
The Jews of Susa con stand together again and dem kill 300 people more for the city on the fourteenth day of Adar, but dem no steal.
The Jews for other provinces also gather together and dem defend themselves. Dem kill 75,000 people wey hate them. But dem no steal.
Na on the thirteenth day of Adar be this. On the next day, wey be the fourteenth, killing no dey again, and dem make am a joyful day to dey chop and celebrate.
The Jews of Susa con make the fifteenth a holiday, since dem don slaughter their enemies on the thirteenth and fourteenth and then stop on the fifteenth.
Na why Jews wey dey live for small towns dey observe the fourteenth day of the month of Adar as a joyous holiday, a time to dey chop and to dey give gift of food to one another.
Mordechai don write these events down and he con send letters to all the Jews, near and far, throughout the Persian Empire,
Dem tell them make dem observe the fourteenth and fifteenth days of Adar as holiday every year.
Na the days wey the Jews don free themselves from their enemies be these; na the month wey turn from a time of sorrow and pain into time of joy and happiness. He tell dem say make dem observe these days with food and party, and dey give gift of food to one another and the poor.
Naso the Jews follow Mordechai instructions, and the celebration don become wetin dem dey do yearly.
Haman son of Hammedatha- wey be the descendant of Agag and the enemy of the people of Jew don cast lots (or "Purim," as dem dey call am) to determine the day wey dem go destroy the Jews; he don plan to wipe them out.
But Esther go meet the king, and the king con write command wey make Haman suffer the evil wey he don plan for the Jews - dem don hang him and him son for the post wey dem dey use hang.
Na why dem dey call the holidays Purim be that. Because of the letter wey Mordechai write and because of wetin don happen to them,
The Jews don make am a rule for themselves, their descendants, and anyone wey fit become a Jew, say for the proper time for each year make dem dey observe these two days regularly according to the instructions wey Mordechai don give.
Dem don resolve am say make every Jewish family of every future generation for every province and for every city dey remember and observe the days of Purim for all time to come.
Then Queen Esther, the daughter of Abihail, with Mordechai, con write a letter about Purim. Dem write am with full authority of the king, wey Mordechai don write before.
Dem address the letter to all Jews, and dem send copies to all the 127 provinces of the Persian Empire. E tell the people say make the festival bring peace and make dem trust each other.
And dem direct the people and their descendant to dey observe the day of Purim for the proper time, just as dem dey remember other festivals when dem fast and cry about the bad things wey don happen before.
Esther write her command inside letter, wey confirm the rules of Purim.
