Ecclesiastes 2
I decide say make I enjoy myself and find out wetin happiness be. But I find out say this one too na vanity.
I discover say to dey laugh dey foolish, say to dey enjoy no dey do any good.
As I dey desire to get wisdom, I con decide say make I make myself happy with wine and say make I enjoy myself. I think say this fit be the better way wey people fit spend their short lives on earth.
I don achieve great things. I don build houses for myself and I don plant vineyards.
I don plant gardens and orchards, with all kind different fruit trees for inside them;
I don dig pond to dey water them.
I don buy plenty slaves, and dem born plenty slaves for my house. I get plenty livestock pass anybody else wey don ever live for Jerusalem.
I don even gather silver and gold from the royal treasuries of the land wey I rule. Men and women dey sing to dey entertain me, and I get all the women wey man fit want.
Yes, I great, I great pass anybody wey don ever live for Jerusalem, and my wisdom never fail me.
I dey get anything wey I want. I no stop myself to dey enjoy. I dey proud of everything wey I don work for, and all this things na my reward.
Then I con think about everything wey I don do and how I don work hard to do am, I con realize say e no mean anything. E just be like say person dey run after wind, wey no get use at all.
Na only things wey the previous king don do before the king fit do. So I start to dey think wetin e mean to dey wise or foolish.
Oh, I know, "Wisdom better pass foolishness, just as light better pass darkness.
The wise fit see where dem dey go, and fools no fit see am." But I also know say the same thing dey wait for all of us.
I dey think inside me say, "I go suffer same way fools dey suffer. So, na wetin I don gain say I dey so wise?" I answer say, "Nothing."
No one dey remember the wise, and no one dey remember the fools. Very soon dem go forget all of us. All of us must die - both wise and fool the same.
So life no mean anything to me, because na trouble everything wey dey inside am dey bring to me. Everything na vanity; I don dey chase wind.
Nothing wey I don work for and wey I don gain mean anything to me, because I know say I go leave them for people wey live after me,
And who know, he fit dey wise, or he fit dey foolish? Yet he go own everything wey I don work for, everything wey my wisdom don give me for this world. Everything na vanity.
Naso I begin dey regret say I don work so hard.
You work for something with all your wisdom, knowledge, and skill, and then you go con leave everything for someone wey no work for am. Na vanity, and e no dey right!
You work and worry your way through life, wetin you get to show for am?
As long as you dey live, na worry and headache everything wey you do dey bring you. Even for night your mind no fit rest. All na vanity.
The best thing wey everyone fit do na to dey chop and drink and enjoy everything wey he don achieve. And yet, I realize say even this dey come from God.
How again you fit get something to chop or enjoy yourself at all?
Na God dey give wisdom, knowledge and happiness to those wey please him, but he dey make sinners dey work, to dey gain and dey save, so that people wey please him fit get wetin dem get. All na vanity. E be like say person dey chase wind.
