Deuteronomy 1

¹ For this book na the words wey Moses tell people of Israel when dem dey desert for east of Jordan River. Dem dey Jordan Valley near Surph, between Paran town for On side and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab for other side.

³ On first day of the eleventh month of the fortieth year after dem don leave Egypt. Moses tell the people everything God don command him to tell them..

⁴ This na After God don defeat king Sihon of Amorites, wey rule for town of Heshbon, and King Og of Bashan, wey rule town of Ashtaroth and Edrei.

⁵ When the people dey east of Jordan for territory of Moab, na that time Moses begin dey explain God law and commands. He say,

⁶ "When we dey Mount Sinai, the LORD our God tell us say, "Una don stay long enough for this mountain.

³⁰ The LORD our God go lead the way. He go fight for our side, just as he do when we see him dey handle the Egyptians.

³² But una still no trust God,

³³ even as he don dey with us for inside desert. For day time, God dey always dey for cloud, and he dey lead for right direction and dey show us where we suppose camp. And for night, he dey there for inside fire.

³⁵ No one for this evil generation go enter the fertile land wey I don promise to give una ancestors.

³⁷ God dey even vex with me because of una, and he say, "Moses, I no go allow you enter the land too.

³⁸ Instead, I go allow Joshua your assistant lead Israel to go take the land. So, make una encourage him."

³⁹ God tell us again say, "People of Israel, una talk say dem go take una children as prisoner in battle for the land. But I go allow them enter the land, and with my help dem go take am and live for there.

⁴⁰ Now, make una turn back enter desert and follow way of Red Sea road.

⁴¹ Una come tell me say, "We don disobey the LORD our God, but now we wan obey him. We go enter the hill country and fight, just as he don tell us." Naso una pick una weapon, una think say e go dey easy to take over the hill country.

⁴² But God say, "Moses, warm them make dem no go to hill country, I no go help them fight, and their enemy go defeat them."
