Amos 8

¹ I get another vision from God, for the vision I see basket wey get fruit.

² God ask me say, "Amos, wetin you see?" I answer say, "Na fruit basket." God tell me say, "The end don come for my people of Israel. I no go change my mind again say I go punish them.

³ That day song for palace go turn funeral cry. Dead body go full everywhere. Dem go throw them out in silence."

⁴ Make una hear this una wey dey match on top the needy and dey try cheat the poor wey dey the country.

⁵ Una tell unaself say, "We no fit wait make holy day pass, so that we go fit sell our corn. When Sabbath go end, so that we fit start to dey sell again? Then we fit overcharge, use measure wey no dey right, and tamper with scale so that we fit cheat our customers.

⁶ We fit sell wheat wey no good for high price, we go find poor person wey no fit pay him debt, even price of pair of sandal, and we go buy him as slave."

⁷ The LORD, God of Israel don swear say, "I no go forget the evil wey dem do.

⁸ And so the earth go shake, and every one for earth go begin dey fear. All the country go dey shake; e go rise and fall like River Nile.

⁹ The time dey come when I go make the sun go down for noon and earth go turn dark for daytime. I, the Almighty God, don talk.

¹⁰ I go turn una festival to funeral and change una glad song to cry. I go make una shave una head and wear sackcloth, and una go be like parents wey dey cry for their only pikin. That day go bitter reach end.

¹² People go waka from Dead Sea go Mediterranean Sea and from north go east. Dem go look everywhere for message from God, but dem no go see.

¹³ For that day, even men and women wey dey strong go collapse for thirst.

¹⁴ Those wey swear by idol of Samaria, wey say, "By god of Dan," or, By god of Beersheba- those people go fall and no go rise again."
