1 ENIA buburu sá nigbati ẹnikan kò le e: ṣugbọn olododo laiya bi kiniun.

1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

2 Nipa irekọja ilẹ li awọn ijoye idi pupọ, ṣugbọn nipa amoye ati oni ìmọ̀ enia kan, li a mu ilẹ pẹ.

2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

3 Olupọnju ti o nni olupọnju lara, o dabi agbalọ òjo ti kò fi onjẹ silẹ.

3 A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

4 Awọn ti o kọ̀ ofin silẹ a ma yìn enia buburu: ṣugbọn awọn ti o pa ofin mọ́ a ma binu si wọn.

4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

5 Oye idajọ kò ye enia buburu: ṣugbọn awọn ti nṣe afẹri Oluwa moye ohun gbogbo.

5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

6 Talaka ti nrin ninu iduro-ṣinṣin rẹ̀, o san jù alarekereke ìwa, bi o tilẹ ṣe ọlọrọ̀.

6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

7 Ẹnikẹni ti o pa ofin mọ́, o ṣe ọlọgbọ́n ọmọ: ṣugbọn ẹniti o ṣe ẹlẹgbẹ jẹguduragudu, o dojuti baba rẹ̀.

7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

8 Ẹniti o fi elé ati ère aiṣõtọ sọ ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ di pupọ, o kó o jọ fun ẹniti yio ṣãnu fun awọn talaka.

8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

9 Ẹniti o mu eti rẹ̀ kuro lati gbọ́ ofin, ani adura rẹ̀ pãpa yio di irira.

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

10 Ẹnikẹni ti o mu olododo ṣìna si ọ̀na buburu, ontikararẹ̀ yio bọ si iho, ṣugbọn aduro-ṣinṣin yio jogun ohun rere.

10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

11 Ọlọrọ̀ gbọ́n li oju ara rẹ̀: ṣugbọn talaka ti o moye ridi rẹ̀.

11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

12 Nigbati awọn olododo enia ba nyọ̀, ọṣọ́ nla a wà; ṣugbọn nigbati enia buburu ba dide, enia a sá pamọ́.

12 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

13 Ẹniti o bo ẹ̀ṣẹ rẹ̀ mọlẹ kì yio ṣe rere: ṣugbọn ẹnikẹni ti o jẹwọ ti o si kọ̀ ọ silẹ yio ri ãnu.

13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

14 Ibukún ni fun ẹniti o bẹ̀ru nigbagbogbo: ṣugbọn ẹniti o ba sé aiya rẹ̀ le ni yio ṣubu sinu ibi.

14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

15 Bi kiniun ti nke ramùramu, ati ẹranko beari ti nfi ebi sare kiri; bẹ̃ni ẹni buburu ti o joye lori awọn talaka.

15 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

16 Ọmọ-alade ti o ṣe alaimoye pupọ ni iṣe ìwa-ika pupọ pẹlu: ṣugbọn eyiti o korira ojukokoro yio mu ọjọ rẹ̀ pẹ.

16 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

17 Enia ti o ba hù ìwa-ika si ẹ̀jẹ ẹnikeji, yio sá lọ si ihò: ki ẹnikan ki o máṣe mu u.

17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

18 Ẹnikẹni ti o ba nrin dẽde ni yio là: ṣugbọn ẹniti o nfi ayidayida rìn loju ọ̀na meji, yio ṣubu ninu ọkan ninu wọn.

18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

19 Ẹniti o ba ro ilẹ rẹ̀ yio li ọ̀pọ onjẹ: ṣugbọn ẹniti o ba ntọ̀ enia asan lẹhin yio ni òṣi to.

19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

20 Olõtọ enia yio pọ̀ fun ibukún: ṣugbọn ẹniti o kanju ati là kì yio ṣe alaijiya.

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

21 Iṣojuṣãju enia kò dara: nitoripe fun òkele onjẹ kan, ọkunrin na yio ṣẹ̀.

21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

22 Ẹniti o kanju ati là, o li oju ilara, kò si rò pe òṣi mbọ̀wá ta on.

22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

23 Ẹniti o ba enia wi yio ri ojurere ni ikẹhin jù ẹniti nfi ahọn pọn ọ lọ.

23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

24 Ẹnikẹni ti o ba nja baba tabi iya rẹ̀ li ole, ti o si wipe, kì iṣe ẹ̀ṣẹ; on na li ẹgbẹ apanirun.

24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

25 Ẹniti o ṣe agberaga li aiya, a rú ìja soke, ṣugbọn ẹniti o gbẹkẹ rẹ̀ le Oluwa li a o mu sanra.

25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

26 Ẹniti o gbẹkẹ le aiya ara rẹ̀, aṣiwère ni; ṣugbọn ẹnikẹni ti o ba nfi ọgbọ́n rìn, on li a o gbà la.

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

27 Ẹniti o ba nfi fun olupọnju kì yio ṣe alaini: ṣugbọn ẹniti o mu oju rẹ̀ kuro, yio gbà egún pupọ.

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

28 Nigbati enia buburu ba hù, awọn enia a sá Owe pamọ́: ṣugbọn nigbati nwọn ba ṣegbe, awọn olododo a ma pọ̀ si i.

28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
