Read Jeremiah 2
1 Ọ̀RỌ Oluwa si tọ̀ mi wá wipe,
1 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 Lọ, ki o si ke li eti Jerusalemu wipe, Bayi li Oluwa wi, Emi ranti rẹ, iṣeun igbà ọmọde rẹ, ifẹ igbeyawo rẹ, nigbati iwọ tẹle mi ni iju, ni ilẹ ti a kì igbin si.
2 Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
3 Mimọ́ ni Israeli fun Oluwa, akọso eso oko rẹ̀, ẹnikẹni ti o fi jẹ yio jẹbi; ibi yio si wá si ori wọn, li Oluwa wi.
3 Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.
4 Ẹ gbọ́ ọ̀rọ Oluwa, ẹnyin ara-ile Jakobu, ati gbogbo iran ile Israeli:
4 Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:
5 Bayi li Oluwa wi: Aiṣedede wo li awọn baba nyin ri lọwọ mi ti nwọn lọ jina kuro lọdọ mi, ti nwọn si tẹle asan, ti nwọn si di enia asan?
5 Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
6 Bẹ̃ni nwọn kò si wipe, nibo li Oluwa wà? ti o mu wa goke lati ilẹ Egipti wá, ti o mu wa rìn ninu iju, ninu ilẹ pẹtẹlẹ ati ihò, ninu ilẹ gbigbẹ ati ojiji ikú, ninu ilẹ ti enia kò là kọja, ati nibiti enia kò tẹdo si.
6 Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
7 Emi si mu nyin wá si ilẹ ọgba-eso, lati jẹ eso rẹ̀ ati ire rẹ̀; ṣugbọn ẹnyin wọ inu rẹ̀, ẹ si ba ilẹ mi jẹ, ẹ si sọ ogún mi di ohun irira:
7 And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.
8 Awọn alufa kò wipe, Nibo li Oluwa wà? ati awọn ti o mu ofin lọwọ kò mọ̀ mi: awọn oluṣọ si ṣẹ̀ si mi, ati awọn woli sọ asọtẹlẹ nipa Baali, nwọn si tẹle ohun ti kò lerè.
8 The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
9 Nitorina, Emi o ba nyin jà, li Oluwa wi, Emi o si ba atọmọde-ọmọ nyin jà.
9 Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children's children will I plead.
10 Njẹ, ẹ kọja lọ si erekuṣu awọn ara Kittimu, ki ẹ si wò, si ranṣẹ lọ si Kedari, ki ẹ si ṣe akiyesi gidigidi, ki ẹ wò bi iru nkan yi ba mbẹ nibẹ?
10 For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
11 Orilẹ-ède kan ha pa ọlọrun rẹ̀ dà? sibẹ awọn wọnyi kì iṣe ọlọrun! ṣugbọn enia mi ti yi ogo wọn pada fun eyiti kò lerè.
11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.
12 Ki ẹnu ki o ya ọrun nitori eyi, ki o si dãmu, ki o si di gbigbẹ, li Oluwa wi!
12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.
13 Nitori awọn enia mi ṣe ibi meji: nwọn fi Emi, isun omi-ìye silẹ, nwọn si wà kanga omi fun ara wọn, kanga fifọ́ ti kò le da omi duro.
13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
14 Ẹrú ni Israeli iṣe bi? tabi ẹru ibile? ẽṣe ti o fi di ijẹ.
14 Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?
15 Awọn ọmọ kiniun ke ramuramu lori rẹ̀, nwọn si bú, nwọn si sọ ilẹ rẹ̀ di ahoro, ilu rẹ̀ li a fi jona li aini olugbe.
15 The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.
16 Awọn ọmọ Nofi ati ti Tafanesi pẹlu ti jẹ agbari rẹ;
16 Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of thy head.
17 Fifi Oluwa ọlọrun rẹ silẹ kọ́ ha mu eyi ba ọ, nigbati o tọ́ ọ loju ọ̀na?
17 Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
18 And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?
19 Ìwa-buburu rẹ ni yio kọ́ ọ, ipadasẹhin rẹ ni yio si ba ọ wi: mọ̀, ki iwọ si ri i pe, ohun buburu ati kikoro ni, pe, iwọ ti kò Oluwa Ọlọrun rẹ, ati pe ìbẹru mi kò si si niwaju rẹ; li Oluwa Ọlọrun awọn ọmọ-ogun wi.
19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
20 Nitori ni igba atijọ iwọ ti ṣẹ́ ajaga ọrun rẹ, iwọ si já idè rẹ; iwọ si wipe, Emi kì o sìn, nitori lori oke giga gbogbo, ati labẹ igi tutu gbogbo ni iwọ nṣe panṣaga.
20 For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.
21 Ṣugbọn emi ti gbin ọ ni ajara ọlọla, irugbin rere patapata: ẽṣe ti iwọ fi yipada di ẹka ajara ajeji si mi?
21 Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
22 Nitori iwọ iba wẹ ara rẹ ni ẽru, ki o si mu ọṣẹ pupọ, ẽri ni ẹ̀ṣẹ rẹ niwaju mi sibẹsibẹ, li Oluwa Ọlọrun wi.
22 For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.
23 Bawo li o ṣe wipe, emi kò ṣe alaimọ́, emi kò tọpa Baalimu? wò ọ̀na rẹ li afonifoji, mọ̀ ohun ti iwọ ti ṣe, iwọ dabi abo ibakasiẹ ayasẹ̀ ti nrin ọ̀na rẹ̀ ka.
23 How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift dromedary traversing her ways;
24 Kẹtẹkẹtẹ igbẹ ti ima gbe aginju, ninu ifẹ ọkàn rẹ̀ ti nfa ẹfufu, li akoko rẹ̀, tani le yi i pada? gbogbo awọn ti nwá a kiri kì yio da ara wọn li agara, nwọn o ri i li oṣu rẹ̀.
24 A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
25 Da ẹsẹ̀ rẹ duro ni aiwọ bàta, ati ọfun rẹ ninu ongbẹ: ṣugbọn iwọ wipe, lasan ni! bẹ̃kọ, nitoriti emi ti fẹ awọn alejo, awọn li emi o tọ̀ lẹhin.
25 Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
26 Gẹgẹ bi oju ti itì ole nigbati a ba mu u, bẹ̃li oju tì ile Israeli; awọn ọba wọn, ijoye wọn, alufa wọn, ati woli wọn pẹlu.
26 As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,
27 Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.
28 Njẹ nibo li awọn ọlọrun rẹ wà, ti iwọ ti da fun ara rẹ? jẹ ki nwọn ki o dide, bi nwọn ba le gba ọ nigba ipọnju rẹ, nitori bi iye ilu rẹ, bẹ̃li ọlọrun rẹ, iwọ Juda.
28 But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.
29 Ẽṣe ti ẹnyin o ba mi jà? gbogbo nyin li o ti rufin mi, li Oluwa wi.
29 Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.
30 Lasan ni mo lù ọmọ nyin, nwọn kò gbà ibawi, idà ẹnyin tikara nyin li o pa awọn woli bi kiniun apanirun.
30 In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
31 Iran enia yi, ẹ kiyesi ọ̀rọ Oluwa. Emi ha ti di aginju si Israeli bi? tabi ilẹ okunkun biribiri, ẽṣe ti enia mi wipe, awa nrin kakiri, awa kì yio tọ̀ ọ wá mọ.
31 O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?
32 Wundia le gbagbe ohun ọṣọ rẹ̀, tabi iyawo ọjá-ọṣọ rẹ̀? ṣugbọn enia mi ti gbagbe mi li ọjọ ti kò ni iye.
32 Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.
33 Ẽṣe ti iwọ tun ọ̀na rẹ ṣe lati wá ifẹ rẹ? nitorina iwọ ṣe kọ́ awọn obinrin buburu li ọ̀na rẹ.
33 Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.
34 Pẹlupẹlu ẹjẹ ẹmi awọn talaka ati alaiṣẹ mbẹ lara aṣọ rẹ, iwọ kò ri wọn nibi irunlẹ wọle, ṣugbọn lara gbogbo wọnyi.
34 Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.
35 Sibẹ iwọ wipe, alaiṣẹ̀ li emi, ibinu rẹ̀ yio sa yipada lọdọ mi. Sa wò o, emi o ba ọ jà, nitori iwọ wipe, emi kò ṣẹ̀.
35 Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.
36 Ẽṣe ti iwọ ṣe ati yi ọ̀na rẹ pada bẹ̃, oju yio tì ọ pẹlu fun Egipti, gẹgẹ bi oju ti tì ọ fun Assiria.
36 Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.
37 Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.
