1 JOSEFU si ṣubu lé baba rẹ̀ li oju, o si sọkun si i lara, o si fi ẹnu kò o li ẹnu.

1 And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.

2 Josefu si paṣẹ fun awọn iranṣẹ rẹ̀, awọn oniṣegun, ki nwọn ki o kùn baba on li ọṣẹ: awọn oniṣegun si kùn Israeli li ọṣẹ.

2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel.

3 Nwọn si kún ogoji ọjọ́ fun u; nitoripe bẹ̃li a ikún ọjọ́ awọn ti a kùn li ọṣẹ: awọn ara Egipti si ṣọ̀fọ rẹ̀ li ãdọrin ọjọ́.

3 And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

4 Nigbati ọjọ́ ọ̀fọ rẹ̀ kọja, Josefu sọ fun awọn ara ile Farao pe, Njẹ bi emi ba ri ore-ọfẹ li oju nyin emi bẹ̀ nyin, ẹ wi li eti Farao pe,

4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

5 Baba mi mu mi bura wipe, Kiyesi i, emi kú: ni isà mi ti mo ti wà fun ara mi ni ilẹ Kenaani, nibẹ̀ ni ki iwọ ki o sin mi. Njẹ nitorina emi bẹ̀ ọ, jẹ ki emi ki o goke lọ, ki emi ki o si lọ isin baba mi, emi o si tun pada wá.

5 My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

6 Farao si wipe, Goke lọ, ki o si sin okú baba rẹ, gẹgẹ bi o ti mu ọ bura.

6 And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.

7 Josefu si goke lọ lati sin baba rẹ̀: ati gbogbo awọn iranṣẹ Farao, ati awọn àlagba ile rẹ̀, ati gbogbo awọn àlagba ilẹ Egipti si bá a goke lọ.

7 And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

8 Ati gbogbo awọn ara ile Josefu, ati awọn arakunrin rẹ̀, ati awọn ara ile baba rẹ̀: kìki awọn ọmọ wẹ́wẹ wọn, ati ọwọ́-ẹran wọn, ati ọwọ́-malu wọn, ni nwọn fi silẹ ni ilẹ Goṣeni.

8 And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

9 Ati kẹkẹ́ ati ẹlẹṣin si bá a goke lọ: ẹgbẹ nlanla si ni ẹgbẹ na.

9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company.

10 Nwọn si dé ibi ilẹ ipakà Atadi, ti o wà li oke Jordani, nibẹ̀ ni nwọn si gbé fi ohùn rére ẹkún nlanla ṣọ̀fọ rẹ̀: o si ṣọ̀fọ fun baba rẹ̀ li ọjọ́ meje.

10 And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.

11 Nigbati awọn ara ilẹ na, awọn ara Kenaani, si ri ọ̀fọ na ni ibi ilẹ ipakà Atadi, nwọn wipe, Ọ̀fọ nla li eyi fun awọn ara Egipti: nitorina ni nwọn ṣe sọ orukọ rẹ̀ ni Abel-misraimu, ti o wà loke odò Jordani.

11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

12 Awọn ọmọ rẹ̀ si ṣe bi o ti fi aṣẹ fun wọn:

12 And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

13 Nitori ti awọn ọmọ rẹ̀ mú u lọ si ilẹ Kenaani, nwọn si sin i ninu ihò oko Makpela, ti Abrahamu rà pẹlu oko fun iní ilẹ isinku, lọwọ Efroni ara Hitti, niwaju Mamre.

13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

14 Josefu si pada wá si Egipti, on ati awọn arakunrin rẹ̀, ati gbogbo awọn ti o bá a goke lọ lati sin baba rẹ̀, lẹhin ti o ti sin baba rẹ̀ tán.

14 And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

15 Nigbati awọn arakunrin Josefu ri pe baba wọn kú tán, nwọn wipe, Bọya Josefu yio korira wa, yio si gbẹsan gbogbo ibi ti a ti ṣe si i lara wa.

15 And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

16 Nwọn si rán onṣẹ tọ̀ Josefu lọ wipe, Baba rẹ ti paṣẹ ki o tó kú pe,

16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,

17 Bayi ni ki ẹnyin wi fun Josefu pe, Njẹ emi bẹ̀ ọ, dari irekọja ati ẹ̀ṣẹ awọn arakunrin rẹ jì wọn, nitori ibi ti nwọn ṣe si ọ. Njẹ nisisiyi, awa bẹ̀ ọ, dari irekọja awọn iranṣẹ Ọlọrun baba rẹ jì wọn. Josefu si sọkun nigbati nwọn sọ fun u.

17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

18 Awọn arakunrin rẹ̀ si lọ pẹlu, nwọn wolẹ niwaju rẹ̀: nwọn si wipe, Wò o, iranṣẹ rẹ li awa iṣe.

18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

19 Josefu si wi fun wọn pe, Ẹ má bẹ̀ru: emi ha wà ni ipò Ọlọrun?

19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

20 Ṣugbọn bi o ṣe ti nyin ni, ibi li ẹnyin rò si mi; ṣugbọn Ọlọrun mọ̀ ọ si rere, lati mu u ṣẹ, bi o ti ri loni lati gbà ọ̀pọlọpọ enia là.

20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

21 Njẹ nisisiyi, ẹ má bẹ̀ru: emi o bọ́ nyin, ati awọn ọmọ wẹrẹ nyin. O si tù wọn ninu, o si sọ̀rọ rere fun wọn.

21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

22 Josefu si joko ni Egipti, on ati ile baba rẹ̀: Josefu si wà li ãdọfa ọdún.

22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.

23 Josefu si ri awọn ọmọloju Efraimu ti iran kẹta; awọn ọmọ Makiri, ọmọ Manasse li a si gbé kà ori ẽkun Josefu pẹlu.

23 And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.

24 Josefu si wi fun awọn arakunrin rẹ̀ pe, Emi kú: Ọlọrun yio si bẹ̀ nyin wò nitõtọ, yio si mú nyin jade kuro ni ilẹ yi, si ilẹ ti o ti bura fun Abrahamu, fun Isaaki, ati fun Jakobu.

24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

25 Josefu si mu awọn ọmọ Israeli bura, wipe, Ọlọrun yio bẹ̀ nyin wò nitõtọ, ki ẹnyin ki o si rù egungun mi lati ihin lọ.

25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.

26 Bẹ̃ni Josefu kú, o jẹ́ ẹni ãdọfa ọdún: nwọn si kùn u li ọṣẹ, a si tẹ́ ẹ sinu posi ni Egipti.

26 So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
