Read Ecclesiastes 1
1 Ọ̀RỌ oniwasu, ọmọ Dafidi, ti o jọba ni Jerusalemu.
1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
2 Asan inu asan, oniwasu na wipe, asan inu asan; gbogbo rẹ̀ asan ni!
2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
3 Ere kili enia jẹ ninu gbogbo lãla rẹ̀ ti o ṣe labẹ õrùn?
3 What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?
4 Iran kan lọ, iran miran si bọ̀: ṣugbọn aiye duro titi lai.
4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.
5 Õrun pẹlu là, õrun si wọ̀, o si yara lọ si ipò rẹ̀ nibiti o ti là.
5 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
6 Afẹfẹ nfẹ lọ siha gusu, a si yipada siha ariwa; o si nlọ sihin sọhun titi, afẹfẹ si tun pada gẹgẹ nipa ayika rẹ̀.
6 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
7 Odò gbogbo ni nṣan sinu okun; ṣugbọn okun kò kún, nibiti awọn odò ti nṣàn wá, nibẹ ni nwọn si tun pada lọ.
7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
8 Ọ̀rọ gbogbo kò to; enia kò le sọ ọ: iran kì isu oju, bẹ̃li eti kì ikún fun gbigbọ́.
8 All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
9 Ohun ti o wà, on ni yio si wà; ati eyiti a ti ṣe li eyi ti a o ṣe; kò si ohun titun labẹ õrùn.
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
10 Ohun kan wà nipa eyi ti a wipe, Wò o, titun li eyi! o ti wà na nigba atijọ, ti o ti wà ṣaju wa.
10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
11 Kò si iranti ohun iṣaju; bẹ̃ni iranti kì yio si fun ohun ikẹhin ti mbọ̀, lọdọ awọn ti mbọ̀ ni igba ikẹhin.
11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.
12 Emi oniwasu jọba lori Israeli ni Jerusalemu.
12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
13 Mo si fi aiya mi si ati ṣe afẹri on ati wadi ọgbọ́n niti ohun gbogbo ti a nṣe labẹ ọrun, lãla kikan yi li Ọlorun fi fun awọn ọmọ enia lati ṣe lãla ninu rẹ̀.
13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
14 Mo ti ri iṣẹ gbogbo ti a nṣe labẹ õrùn; si kiyesi i, asan ni gbogbo rẹ̀ ati imulẹmofo.
14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
15 Eyi ti o wọ́, a kò le mu u tọ́: ati iye àbuku, a kò le kà a.
15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
16 Mo si ba aiya ara mi sọ̀rọ wipe, kiyesi i, mo li ọgbọ́n nla, mo si fi kún u jù gbogbo wọn lọ ti o ti ṣaju mi ni Jerusalemu; aiya mi si ri ohun pupọ nla niti ọgbọ́n ati ti ìmọ.
16 I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
17 Nigbati mo fi aiya mi si ati mọ̀ ọgbọ́n, ati lati mọ̀ isinwin ati iwère: nigbana ni mo mọ̀ pe, eyi pẹlu jẹ imulẹmofo.
17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
18 Nitoripe ninu ọgbọ́n pupọ ni ibinujẹ pupọ wà, ẹniti o si nsọ ìmọ di pupọ, o nsọ ikãnu di pupọ.
18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
