1 NJẸ nigbati Festu de ilẹ na, lẹhin ijọ mẹta o gòke lati Kesarea lọ si Jerusalemu.
1 Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.
2 Awọn olori alufa ati awọn enia pataki ninu awọn Ju fi Paulu sùn u, nwọn si bẹ̀ ẹ,
2 Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,
3 Nwọn nwá oju're rẹ̀ si Paulu, ki o le ranṣẹ si i wá si Jerusalemu: nwọn ndèna dè e lati pa a li ọna.
3 And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.
4 Ṣugbọn Festu dahun pe, a pa Paulu mọ́ ni Kesarea, ati pe on tikara on nmura ati pada lọ ni lọ̃lọ̃yi.
4 But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
5 O ni, njẹ awọn ti o ba to ninu nyin, ki nwọn ba mi sọkalẹ lọ, bi ìwa buburu kan ba wà lọwọ ọkunrin yi, ki nwọn ki o fi i sùn.
5 Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
6 Kò si gbe ãrin wọn ju ijọ mẹjọ tabi mẹwa lọ, o sọkalẹ lọ si Kesarea; ni ijọ keji o joko lori itẹ́ idajọ, o si paṣẹ pè ki a mu Paulu wá.
6 And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
7 Nigbati o si de, awọn Ju ti o ti Jerusalemu sọkalẹ wá duro yi i ká, nwọn nkà ọ̀ran pipọ ti o si buru si Paulu lọrùn, ti nwọn kò le ladi.
7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
8 Paulu si wi ti ẹnu rẹ̀ pe, Emi kò ṣẹ ẹṣẹkẹṣẹ kan si ofin awọn Ju, tabi si tẹmpili, tabi si Kesari.
8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
10 Paulu si wipe, Niwaju itẹ́ idajọ Kesari ni mo duro nibiti o yẹ ki a ṣe ẹjọ mi: emi kò ṣẹ awọn Ju, bi iwọ pẹlu ti mọ̀ daju.
10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
11 Njẹ bi mo ba ṣẹ̀, ti mo si ṣe ohun kan ti o yẹ fùn ikú, emi kò kọ̀ lati kú: ṣugbọn bi kò ba si nkan wọnni ninu ohun ti awọn wọnyi fi mi sùn si, ẹnikan kò le fi mi ṣe oju're fun wọn. Mo fi ọ̀ran mi lọ Kesari.
11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
12 Nigbana ni Festu lẹhin ti o ti ba ajọ igbìmọ sọ̀rọ, o dahùn pe, Iwọ ti fi ọ̀ran rẹ lọ Kesari: lọdọ Kesari ni iwọ ó lọ.
12 Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.
13 Lẹhin ijọ melokan, Agrippa ọba, ati Bernike sọkalẹ wá si Kesarea lati kí Festu.
13 And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.
14 Bi nwọn si ti wà nibẹ̀ li ọjọ pipọ, Festu mu ọ̀ran Paulu wá siwaju ọba, wipe, Feliksi fi ọkunrin kan silẹ li ondè:
14 And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
15 Ẹniti awọn olori alufa ati awọn agbàgba awọn Ju fi sùn nigbati mo wà ni Jerusalemu nwọn nfẹ ki n da a lẹbi.
15 About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
16 Awọn ẹniti mo si da lohùn pe, Kì iṣe iṣe awọn ara Romu lati da ẹnikẹni lẹbi, ki ẹniti a fisùn ki o to kò awọn olufisùn rẹ̀ loju, ki o si ri àye wi ti ẹnu rẹ̀, nitori ọ̀ran ti a kà si i lọrùn,
16 To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
17 Nitorina nigbati nwọn jùmọ wá si ihinyi, emi kò jafara, nijọ keji mo joko lori itẹ́ idajọ, mo si paṣẹ pe ki a mu ọkunrin na wá.
17 Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.
18 Nigbati awọn olufisùn na dide, nwọn kò kà ọ̀ran buburu iru eyi ti mo rò si i lọrùn.
18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
19 Ṣugbọn nwọn ni ọ̀ran kan si i, niti isin wọn, ati niti Jesu kan ti o ti kú, ti Paulu tẹnumọ́ pe o wà lãye.
19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
20 Bi emi kò si ti mọ̀ bi a iti wadi nkan wọnyi, mo bi i lere bi o nfẹ lọ si Jerusalemu, ki a si ṣe ẹjọ nkan wọnyi nibẹ̀.
20 And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.
21 Ṣugbọn nigbati Paulu fi ọ̀ran rẹ̀ lọ Augustu, pe ki a pa on mọ fun idajọ rẹ̀, mo paṣẹ pe ki a pa a mọ titi emi o fi le rán a lọ sọdọ Kesari.
21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.
22 Agrippa si wi fun Festu pe, Emi pẹlu fẹ lati gbọ́ ọrọ ọkunrin na tikarami. O si wipe, Lọla iwọ o gbọ ọ.
22 Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23 Njẹ ni ijọ keji, ti Agrippa on Bernike wá, ti awọn ti ọsọ́ pipọ, ti nwọn si wọ ile ẹjọ, pẹlu awọn olori ogun, ati awọn enia nla ni ilu, Festu paṣẹ, nwọn si mu Paulu jade.
23 And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth.
24 Festu si wipe, Agrippa ọba, ati gbogbo ẹnyin enia ti o wà nihin pẹlu wa, ẹnyin ri ọkunrin yi, nitori ẹniti gbogbo ijọ awọn Ju ti rọgbaká mi, ni Jerusalemu ati nihinyi, ti nwọn nkigbe pe, Kò yẹ fun u lati wà lãye mọ́.
24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
25 Ṣugbọn emi ri pe, kò ṣe ohun kan ti o yẹ si ikú, bi on tikararẹ̀ si ti fi ọ̀ran rẹ̀ lọ Augustu, mo ti pinnu lati rán a lọ.
25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
26 Nipasẹ ẹniti emi kò ri ohun kan dajudaju lati kọwe si oluwa mi. Nitorina ni mo ṣe mu u jade wá siwaju nyin, ati pe siwaju rẹ, Agrippa ọba, pãpã lẹhin ti a ba ti wadi rẹ̀, ki emi ki o le ri ohun ti emi ó kọ.
26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
27 Nitoriti kò tọ́ li oju mi lati rán ondè, ki a má si sọ ọ̀ran ti a kà si i lọrùn.
27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.
