1 ẸNYIN ará, ati baba, ẹ gbọ ti ẹnu mi nisisiyi.
1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.
2 (Nigbati nwọn si gbọ́ pe o mba wọn sọrọ li ede Heberu, nwọn tubọ parọrọ; o si wipe,)
2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)
3 Ju li emi iṣe ẹniti a bí ni Tarsu ilu kan ni Kilikia, ṣugbọn ti a tọ́ ni ilu yi, li ẹsẹ Gamalieli, ti a kọ́ gẹgẹ bi lile ofin awọn baba wa, ti mo si jẹ onitara fun Ọlọrun ani gẹgẹ bi gbogbo nyin ti ri li oni.
3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.
4 Mo si ṣe inunibini si Ọna yi titi o fi de iku, mo ndè, mo si nfi wọn sinu tubu, ati ọkunrin ati obinrin.
4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.
5 Bi olori alufa pẹlu ti jẹ mi li ẹri, ati gbogbo ajọ awọn alàgba: lọwọ awọn ẹniti mo si gbà iwe lọ sọdọ awọn arakunrin, ti mo si lọ si Damasku lati mu awọn ti o wà nibẹ̀ ni didè wá si Jerusalemu, lati jẹ wọn niyà.
5 As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
6 O si ṣe, bi emi ti nlọ, ti mo si sunmọ eti Damasku niwọn ọjọkanri, li ojijì, imọlẹ nla mọ́ ti ọrun wá yi mi ká.
6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.
7 Mo si ṣubu lùlẹ, mo si ngbọ́ ohùn kan ti o wi fun mi pe, Saulu, Saulu, ẽṣe ti iwọ fi nṣe inunibini si mi?
7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
8 Emi si dahùn wipe, Iwọ tani, Oluwa? O si wi fun mi pe, Emi Jesu ti Nasareti ni, ẹniti iwọ nṣe inunibini si.
8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
9 Awọn ti o si wà pẹlu mi ri imọlẹ na nitõtọ, ẹ̀ru si ba wọn; ṣugbọn nwọn kò gbọ́ ohùn ẹniti mba mi sọrọ.
9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
10 Mo si wipe, Kini ki emi ki o ṣe, Oluwa? Oluwa si wi fun mi pe, Dide, ki o si lọ si Damasku; nibẹ̀ li a o si sọ ohun gbogbo fun ọ ti a yàn fun ọ lati ṣe.
10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
11 Bi emi kò si ti le riran nitori itànṣan imọlẹ na, a ti ọwọ́ awọn ti o wà lọdọ mi fà mi, mo si de Damasku.
11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
12 Ẹnikan si tọ̀ mi wá, Anania, ọkunrin olufọkansìn gẹgẹ bi ofin, ti o li orukọ rere lọdọ gbogbo awọn Ju ti o ngbe ibẹ̀.
12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
13 O si duro tì mi, o si wi fun mi pe, Saulu arakunrin, riran. Ni wakati kanna mo si ṣiju soke wò o.
13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
14 O si wipe, Ọlọrun awọn baba wa yàn ọ, lati mọ̀ ifẹ rẹ̀, ati lati ri Olõtọ nì, ati lati gbọ́ ohùn li ẹnu rẹ̀,
14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 Ki iwọ ki o le ṣe ẹlẹri rẹ̀ fun gbogbo enia, li ohun ti iwọ ti ri ti iwọ si ti gbọ́.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 Njẹ nisisiyi kini iwọ nduro de? Dide, ki a si baptisi rẹ, ki o si wẹ̀ ẹ̀ṣẹ rẹ nù, ki o si mã pè orukọ Oluwa.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
17 O si ṣe pe, nigbati mo pada wá si Jerusalemu, ti mo ngbadura ni tẹmpili mo bọ si ojuran;
17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;
18 Mo si ri i, o wi fun mi pe, Yara, ki o si jade kuro ni Jerusalemu kánkán: nitori nwọn kì yio gbà ẹrí rẹ nipa mi.
18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.
19 Emi si wipe, Oluwa, awọn pãpã mọ̀ pe, emi a ti mã sọ awọn ti o gbà ọ gbọ sinu tubu, emi a si mã lù wọn ninu sinagogu gbogbo:
19 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:
20 Nigbati a si ta ẹ̀jẹ Stefanu ẹlẹri rẹ silẹ, emi na pẹlu duro nibẹ̀, mo si li ohùn si ikú rẹ̀, mo si nṣe itọju aṣọ awọn ẹniti o pa a.
20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.
21 O si wi fun mi pe, Mã lọ: nitori emi ó rán ọ si awọn Keferi lokere réré.
21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.
22 Nwọn si fi etí si i titi de ọ̀rọ yi, nwọn si gbé ohùn wọn soke wipe, Ẹ mu irú eyiyi kuro li aiye: nitori kò yẹ ki o wà lãye.
22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
23 Bi nwọn si ti nkigbe, ti nwọn si wọ́n aṣọ wọn silẹ, ti nwọn nku ekuru si oju ọrun,
23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,
24 Olori ogun paṣẹ pe ki a mu u wá sinu ile-olodi, o ni ki a fi ẹgba bi i lẽre; ki on ki o le mọ̀ itori ohun ti nwọn ṣe nkigbe le e bẹ̃.
24 The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.
25 Bi nwọn si ti fi ọsán dè e, Paulu bi balogun ọrún ti o duro tì i pe, O ha tọ́ fun nyin lati nà ẹniti iṣe ará Romu li aijẹbi?
25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?
26 Nigbati balogun ọrún si gbọ́, o lọ, o wi fun olori-ogun pe, Kili o fẹ ṣe yi: nitori ọkunrin yi ara Romu ni iṣe.
26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.
27 Olori-ogun si de, o si bi i pe, Sọ fun mi, ara Romu ni iwọ iṣe? O si wipe, Bẹ̃ni.
27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.
28 Olori-ogun si dahùn wipe, Owo pupọ ni mo fi rà ọlá ibilẹ yi. Paulu si wipe, Ṣugbọn a bí emi bẹ̃ ni.
28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.
29 Nitorina awọn ti o mura lati bi i lẽre kuro lọdọ rẹ̀: lojukanna olori-ogun pẹlu si bẹ̀ru, nigbati o mọ̀ pe ara Romu ni iṣe, ati nitori o ti dè e.
29 Then straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.
30 Ni ijọ keji, nitoriti o fẹ mọ̀ dajudaju ohun ti awọn Ju nfi i sùn si, o tú u silẹ, o paṣẹ ki awọn olori alufa ati gbogbo igbimọ pejọ, o si mu Paulu sọkalẹ, o si mu u duro niwaju wọn.
30 On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.
